TheHarry Potteruniverse has long enthralled a dedicated fanbase with its expansive list of seminal stories and the blockbuster films that followed them. The franchise quickly cemented its place in pop culture by seamlessly blending reality with fantasy, creating a complex and intriguing Wizarding World that thrived (and struggled) right under the nose of the muggles. But, for many wizarding aficionados, being able to read and see the world of wizards was not enough. It’s no surprise then thatHogwarts Legacywas such a smash hit when it came out earlier this year.

Exploring Hogwarts and the grounds surrounding it as a first-year student inHogwarts Legacyis incredibly exciting for people who have followed the series from its inception, and even for those who haven’t. However, it turns out that some of the trials and tribulations that the students face can be a bit harder than expected. Whether it’s facing hordes of spiders, trolls with seemingly unending health pools, or well-coordinated bandit attacks in the Battle Arena, there’s always something to keep first-year wizards on their toes. Like in any RPG, facing these threats can be a lot easier when players are equipped with the best gear available. Luckily, inHogwarts Legacy, being equipped with the best gear is as easy as wearing the highest stats, but there some things players should keep in mind.

Hogwarts Legacy Legendary Gear

Legendary gear is the strongest gear inHogwarts Legacy, offering the best Offense and Defense to players, which are the games two main combat stats. Like the rest of the gear available in the game, its stats are randomly generated and are dependent on a character’s level: the higher level they are, the better the gear’s Offense or Defense. Legendary gear can be found in many ways, but is most easily found withinLarge Chests, Disillusionment Chests, and Collection Chests. It can also be purchased from vendors or received as a reward for completing quests, puzzles, assignments, or duels. Another important note is that Legendary gear can be upgraded for additional stats, and it is the only gear that offers level 3 Trait slots. The name of this gear appears gold in game.

Hogwarts Legacy Extraordinary, Superb, and Well-Appointed Gear

Extraordinary gear, which is purple, offers very good bonuses inHogwarts Legacy.Like Legendary gear, Extraordinary gear can be found in chests or as a reward from quests, assignments, duels, and puzzles. Extraordinary gear is purchasable from many of thevendor locations inHogwarts Legacymap, too. This gear can be also upgraded for additional stats, and it offers level 2 Trait slots.

Superb gear is the middle-of-the-road gear that offers players generous increases to their stats. Superb gear, which is blue, is found pretty easily in the game and is often the loot of chests. It can also be purchased from vendors or received as a reward for completing quests, puzzles, assignments, or duels.Upgrading gear inHogwarts Legacyis an important part of increasing a player’s stats, and Superb gear is the first gear type that can be upgraded. It’s also the first gear type to come with trait slots, having level 1 Trait slots.

Well-Appointed gear offers modest increases to Offense and Defense, but it is still pretty weak overall. This gear will fill players' inventories early on in the game, most often received from chests. Like the rest of the gear, it can be received as a reward for quests, assignments, duels, and puzzles. Well-appointed gear has no trait slots and cannot be upgraded. The name of this gear appears green in the game.

As obvious by the name, standard gear is the most basic of thegear rarities inHogwarts Legacy. This gear offers very little in terms of Offense and Defense bonuses and should be replaced ASAP. Standard gear is easily found in the game and can be looted from chests of all types or cheaply purchased from vendors. This gear has no trait slots and cannot be upgraded. The name of this gear appears gray in game.
