Over the last few years, Bloober Team has established itself as a rising star in horror game development. With its first horror titleLayers of Feargetting a VR port recently, and its latest effort,The Medium, currently establishing the team as a formidable force in creating dark and scary experiences, the Polish studio is continuing to grow as it moves forward. Now, a recent update is suggesting that the latter game may be coming to the PS5 at some point.

Originally released as a PC and Xbox Series exclusive, the Entertainment Software Rating Board, or ESRB, has recently ratedThe Mediumas “Mature 17+” and listed the game’s platforms as both the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. Given that the game is not currently available on the latter, it suggests that it will be ported over to Sony’s new-gen console at some point. The reasons for the rating are, according to the report, due to depictions of blood and bloodstains, including a “bathtub full of blood,” and the use of strong language heard in the game.

It’s important at this stage to state that this is only speculation. However, given that the ESRB putThe Mediumdown as a PS5 game, as well as an Xbox game, the clues arguably point towards the potential for it being ported over. This is also not the first time this has happened. In April, theESRB ratedLife is Strange: True Colorsand hinted at the possibility of the game coming to Nintendo Switch.

Bloober Team has not commented about whether the speculations are true or not. Back in May, the studio announced that bothThe MediumandObserver: System Reduxwould be getting physical releases soon, but did not say whether the former would be coming to PS5. This does not mean it won’t be happening, but it’s perhaps too early to say for sure until Bloober itself comes forward with more information.

TheMediumreceived positive reviewswhen it was released in January of this year, with many praising the unique split-screen mechanic which rendered two worlds simultaneously. Given that the company’s other games have been launched for the PlayStation, it could be argued that this latest title would also benefit from a Sony release as well. As Bloober puts focus on existing developer goals, releasingThe Mediumfor PS5 may help improve its standing in the community and give even more fans the opportunity to experience the horror.

The Mediumis out now for PC and Xbox Series X.
