Stuck in a Rut is one of the first side quests that mostFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthplayers will stumble upon after arriving in the Junon Region. It’s made up of multiple parts and is thus one of the longest side quests inChapter 4 ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though the rewards for completing it make it well worth the player’s while.
In addition to unlocking a Black Chocobo, players will also gain access to Gabe’s Chocobo Carriages, which can be used to return to the Grasslands area without having to go back through the old Mythril Mine. This alone should place it high on mostFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthplayers' to-do lists, but for those still on the fence, there are a few other little rewards just to further sweeten the deal.
How to Complete the Stuck in a Rut Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Players will be able to start Stuck in a Rut by speaking with Gabe at the Junon Chocobo Ranch. He’ll ask the party to help him acquire some parts from the local Wainwright, though this ends up being far from straightforward. To reach the Wainwright’s house, players will need to climb some vertical walls, meaning they’ll need toget their hands on a Black Chocobo. Thankfully, though, there’s one not too far away, so players should make their way to the nearby Chocobo Intel spot and then use the minecarts to sneak up it. To activate the last two minecarts, they’ll need to throw rocks at the switches by holding L1 and pressing Square.
Gather Materials for the Wainwright Locations
Once they’ve wrangled the Black Chocobo, players can use it to climb some vertical walls and reach the Wainwright’s house. After Cloud and the party wake him with the “Wake him gently” option, he’ll say that he requires some materials to build what Gabe has asked for and hands over a crude drawing showing where players can find what they need. Much like inthe Flowers from the Hill side questearlier on, players can check the drawing by pressing left on the D-pad followed by L1. However, it’s much easier to just go straight to the spots shown in the images above. There, while riding their Chocobos, players can pinpoint the exact locations of the materials by holding up on the D-Pad and then dig them up by pressing down.
Stuck in a Rut Rewards
Once they have all three pieces of driftwood, players canfast travel back to the Wainwright’s houseto get the parts that they need, then make their way back to Gabe’s ranch. After receiving the parts, Gabe will agree to open up his Chocobo carriage service again, allowing players to travel back to the Grasslands almost instantly without having to pass through the Mythrill Mine. Players will also get10 pieces of condor cedar,10 pieces of mellow oak,a queensguard bangle,10 party EXP,200 EXP, and adeepened relationship with Aerith.
