There’s a variety of different status effects inNightingalethat can work with or against players. Disease is one such ailment that, unlike in other survival games, can outright kill a Realmwalker who’s unprepared for their journey.

Those who were unfortunate enough to get sick early on should have noticed that Disease can easily tear through a player’s health bar. This status effect can be a real bother to deal with, especially if you’replayingNightingalesolo. Thankfully, there are some ways to work around it.

The Disease meter in Nightingale

How to Get Rid of Disease in Nightingale

As of writing, we’ve yet to find a reliable way to completely cure the Disease status in Nightingale. However, you caneasily prevent the build-up of Diseasecompletely bysimply exiting the water. Foul water in theSwampswill gradually build up the Disease meter — when it reaches thehalfway point, you’ll start taking damage until the Disease meter goes below 50% again. However, if the meter gets filled, the Disease status will last for much longer. The status effect will disappear if you are revived by another player or one ofNightingale’srecruitable NPCs.

Simple Curative Potions will not cure the Disease status. They will only improve your resistance to it, slowing down the status effect build-up to give you more time to get out of foul water. If you do get fully diseased, then these potions will not help you. Your best bet to outlive Disease is todrink regular healing potions or take Healing Salves. The latter is capable of fixing all other physical debuffs like injuries and broken body parts, but it won’t cure Disease either. It will only restore your health as you take damage from the status effect.

Avoid wading through swamp water as much as possible to avoid getting sick. Alternatively, if you really want to cross a dirty pond or lake, spam the Jump button oruseNightingale’sdodge functionas you move. Bunny-hopping works even if you’re in water, and the precious split seconds while your body is in the air will actually pause the build-up of Disease. Once you gain access to better consumables or magic, you’ll be able to resist or outheal Disease damage.
