While incantations see a lot more favor than sorceries inElden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree, it doesn’t mean incumbent mages have nothing to look forward to. The few sorceries that have been added to the DLC are not half bad, but the new staves really steal the spotlight.
Notable among them is the Maternal Staff, an actually good Arcane/Intelligence scaling weapon that gives split sorcery builds a much-needed option to branch out from the standard fare. This guide covers how to obtain this weapon, its stats, and the best builds with which to use it.
Maternal Staff Overview: Stat Requirements, Effects, & Skill
Staff of Count Ymir, who made himself a Mother of Fingers.
Carried for want of tail-fingers of his own.
Enhances finger sorceries.
The crystal ball, though representative of a microcosm, would not receive any sign
InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,Maternal Staffis a new weapon of the GlintstoneStaff weapon type. With its innate ability toboost finger sorceries by 8%, it is most suited for casting finger spells; however, it is also a decent option for casting Arcane spells.
Having said that, in most cases, theAlbinauric Staffstill outshines the Maternal Staff if you’re going for a split Int/Arc build, and theCarian Regal Scepteris better in every way for pure sorcery builds.
The Maternal Staff can be upgraded usingSmithing Stones to +25, and cannot benefit from spell-based or consumable weapon buffs.
