Players will take control of the game’s protagonist Jak, as he rises from the ranks of the Unforeseen to become a master spell caster as arare Triarch Magnus. His position is extremely rare and enables him to master all three of the prominent forms of magic in Aveum, distinguished by their color. Before getting intoImmortals of Aveum, which is due out on August 22, players can learn to distinguish between blue, green, and red magic.
Red Magic
Taking the phrase “seeing red” to a new level, Red Magic inImmortals of Aveumrepresents destruction in its many violent forms. The very embodiment of disorder, the spells that can be cast with Red Magic make use of energy in its most extreme forms. By creating, and harnessing such energy, a destructive red beam can be set free at the expense of its targets.
Using Jak’s Sigil, which allows him to better control his magic casting, players are able toharness magic in a variety of formats. With Red Magic, Jak is able to cast Breachfire, Burstfire, and Fragfire. The Breachfire is perfect for disposing of multiple enemies, as unleashes numerous wide bursts of magic. The Burstfire is a more explosive variant, which allows the player to cast a ball of pure red energy that will travel a short distance before exploding. The Fragfire is a great weapon for buying time, as it will stagger any enemies that come too close to Jak.

Red Magic, however, does not just exist for the purpose of bringing about the demise of others. By using a totem to harness Red Magic, Jak is able to produce precision hits, as well as using a focused beam which is useful for solving puzzles and progressing through the story ofImmortals of Aveum.
Green Magic
Green Magic is energy that represents all aspects of change, from growth to transition to eventual death. Harnessing the very notion of creating and instilling change, this magic has the ability to alter the environment in its entirety, from objects to foes. While this magic type does not as readily cause grievous destruction, it is able to create illusions to misdirect foes, bind objects into place, and deprive an enemy of their ability todefend themselves or heal injuries.
Using a barrage of rapid-fire attacks that home in on targets, the Green Magic Sigil abilities are ideal for overwhelming foes of all sizes, and include Seekershards, Stormshards, and Maelstrom. Jak can use Seekershards to launch a volley of homing missiles, the Stormshards to rapid-fire an array of fast-moving projectiles, and the Maelstrom to quickly hit an enemy to slow down their own offense.
Green Magic can also be harnessed with the use of totems, which are primarily used to slow down opponents. Totem attacks allow Jak to cover enemies with Limpets to progressively hinder the movement of foes. This isone of the best displays of combining magic types,as igniting these Limpets with Red Magic will cause an explosion.
Blue Magic
Force and all forms of physical manipulation are the central focus of Blue Magic. From firing offensive bolts to establishing defensive walls to protect Jak from harm, blue energy enables players to become true masters of gravity and the physical world around them. Blue Magic is also used effectively in a passive sense, as it can be used to grapple, pull, or push objects that may not otherwise be manipulated as such.

From an attacking standpoint, Blue Magic is at its most effective whenapplied with precision from long range. This is evident in the Blue Magic Sigil attacks; Shrikebolt, Arclight, and Javelin. All three Sigil attacks are focussed energy dispersed across a great distance, with the Shrikebolt likening itself to a bolt of lightning, the Arclight resembling a beam of pure energy that pierces through obstacles, and the Javelin being launched like a spear of charged blue energy.
The ability of Blue Magic to pull, push, and grapple objects is amplified when harnessing its powers through a totem. Using these stronger abilities, Jak is able to be more agile and difficult to hit on the battlefield. For smaller enemies, players are able to pull them in closer to unleash a devastating attack, whereas Jak will be able to pull himself closer to larger enemies to do the same. Totem powers are also useful when applied to the surrounding environment, as Jak can instantly produce an anchor point to pull himself towards. This will be especially useful when players are being overwhelmed and require space toreevaluate their strategyand ensure Jak’s survival.
