Breath of the Wild 2is the highly anticipated sequel to Nintendo’s open-world action titleBreath of the Wild. WhileBreath of the Wild 2recently faced a delay into early 2023, fans are still speculating about the game enthusiastically. Mostly, the game’s narrative seems rather shrouded in mystery, as the ending toBreath of the Wildsaw Calamity Ganon defeated and order somewhat restored to an apocalyptic Hyrule. It seems now that a voice actor for the upcoming title may have accidentally leaked knowledge on a character withinBreath of the Wild 2’sstory. Fans should be warned that there are potential spoilers below.
Italian voice actor Pietro Ubaldi originally voiced theGoron Champion DarukinBreath of the Wild. Daruk features as one of Hyrule’s old champions, who failed to stop Calamity Ganon 100 years before the events ofBreath of the Wildtake place. Like the other fallen heroes Revali, Mipha, and Urbosa, Daruk can guide Link on his quest to restore all the Divine Beasts to their former glory and save Hyrule.

However, alongside voicing Daruk, Ubaldi has stated that he will also voice Daruk’s ancestor. Daruk endsBreath of the Wildin the afterlife, though beforehand he is able to speak with Link in certain moments, meaning an ancestor of Daruk could play a similar role. It is currently unknown how Daruk’s ancestor will appear inBreath of the Wild 2, but it is assumed that the character will not appear physically, unless the game were to have Link travel back in time.
Some fans initially believed that Daruk’s ancestor could be Darunia,the Goron patriarch that appears inOcarina of Time. Ubaldi did clarify that the ancestor he is voicing is not Darunia though, meaning the character will be another member of the Goron people. Ubaldi didn’t give a specific name on the ancestor either, stating that he couldn’t remember it, but he did state that this role was more serious than his previous time playing Daruk.
Fans are currently speculating that the ancestor of Daruk could lead to another story revolving around the Divine Beasts, and that Ubaldi’s new character could be the original pilot of Divine Beast Rudania from millennia ago. It’s likely that Daruk’s ancestry will be but one small feature ofBreath of the Wild 2’sexpansive new mapand story, as series producer Eiji Aonuma has promised thatBreath of the Wild’ssequel will allow for gameplay both on the ground and in the skies above.
