Yuji Itadori awakened his domain in the battle against Sukuna. The basis for his Domain Expansion was twofold. The first thing that fans saw that set the basis for his Domain Expansion was his awakening of the proper Innate Technique. This happened after he hit a powerful black flashon the King of Curses. This happened in the Shinjuku showdown Arc, when Sukuna was battling against the sorcerers. Yuji landed this monstrous black flash on him, and this hit was such that he unlocked his latent potential and finally got to tap into his innate technique. As for how Yuji actually got access to this innate technique, fans don’t need to look beyond the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
Sukuna taking over Yuji’s body certainly had its downsides for the protagonist of the series. However, it also had its positives, and fans know that him gaining the Shrine technique is one of them. At the very beginning of the series, when Sukuna was inside Yuji’s body, fans knew that eventually, Yuji would gain access to his cursed technique, and this fact was established by Gojo very early in the story, and later reaffirmed by Shoko. That is precisely what happenedin the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, where Yuji Itadori gained this technique after hitting a powerful black flash.
The second part of Yuji getting a Domain Expansion was his mastery of barrier techniques. During the timeskip that preceded the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuji trained with many sorcerers, specifically Yuta and Kusakabe. Using the body swap technique, Yuji was able to learn barrier techniques from Kusakabe. He learned how to utilize simple domains, and his mastery of barrier techniques allowed him to maintain the basis of a Domain Expansion. When Yuji managed to learn how to manifest a domain and then infuse his innate technique into the domain, his Domain Expansion was finally born. This happened in JJK chapter 264, where Yuji, while fighting Sukuna, decided to form a unique hand sign, which indicates that he is now ready for this Domain Expansion. Of course, as things stand, fans do not know how Yuji’s Domain Expansion would work and what power it entails. But, that is precisely why JJK chapter 265 is as important as it is.
How The Cursed Technique Yuji Infused Would Work
Yuji Would Likely Use The Shrine Cursed Technique For His Domain
Fans know that Yuji’s Domain Expansion is going to be very important in many ways. For one, readers need to keep in mind that Yuji could infuse two techniques in his domain. Yuji has access to two innate techniques as things stand and these are Blood Manipulation, which he gained by consuming the Death Paintings number 4 to 9, and, the Shrine cursed technique, which he got access to through Sukuna. Of course, Yuji can infuse either of these techniques in his domain and still make a very powerful domain. However, it is likely that he will go down the path of the Shrine cursed technique.
This is simply because his mastery of Blood Manipulation isn’t all that great. He primarily uses it to give him access to reverse cursed techniques, even though he can just about manage Piercing Blood, as was indicated in the manga earlier, with help. As such, Yuji cannot utilize complex techniques from Blood Manipulation, which leaves the room open for just the shrine cursed technique.
Secondly, what fans need to keep in mind is that Yuji’s Shrine technique differs starkly from Sukuna’s. The basis of the techniques is the same, but the way they utilize it is completely different. Sukuna attributes this to Yuji being a completely different-minded individual to him, and there being a difference in eras of when they were born. Sukuna’s usage of cursed technique is indiscriminate and he simply fires Cleave and Dismantle at all his surroundings within a specific range. Yuji’s domain is going to be somewhat different. For one, fans do not know whether Yuji’s domain is going to be an open barrier one. It is likely that it will be an enclosed barrier and that Sukuna will be inside.
Secondly, it is likely not going to include indiscriminate massacre of those inside the domain. Yuji utilizes his technique very carefully. As such, Yuji is only going to chop up parts of Sukuna that he wishes to chop up and end Sukuna. Malevolent Shrine Implies Sukuna’s indiscriminate nature, Yuji’s could be completely opposite and be labeled as Benevolent Shrine, where his main role is to guide episodes of those who cannot be redeemed to the afterlife.This would imply that Yuji will get rid of Sukunainside the domain with a powerful attack that will directly going to be launched at his soul.
Sukuna could cut down the bodies of those in his way, but Yuji would only target the soul of the individual inside the domain. At the very least, this is an idea.

The sure hit that Yuji is going to launch on Sukuna cannot be defended against by the King of Curses. That is how the author is setting it up, and that is basically how domains work in the first place. What exactly this sure hit is, fans do not know at this point in time. However, soon enough, they will find out how the author plans for Yuji to use it. Based on everything that fans have seen in the battle between Yuji and Sukuna, the only conclusion that they can come to is that this sure-hit attack is goingto be launched directly on Sukuna’s soul. Yuji is going to launch a technique or create a new technique to fire at the soul of his target wherever he wants. This Sure-Hit will be so powerful that it will make Sukuna throw up all the fingers, ripping him from Megumi for good and guiding his soul to the afterlife. This is going to be the essence of Yuji’s domain, and this is how he can be the King of Curses.
Of course, inside the domain, Yuji is going to win the battle and beat Sukuna. However, fans should not bank on that to be the end of this fight, since Sukuna still has one trump card, and that is the merger, the key to which wasentrusted to him by Kenjaku.Even though Sukuna will lose this battle, he can still pull off one trump card that the sorceries will then have to deal with and that is something that fans should look forward to.
