TheLeague of Legendsuniverse is growing rapidly, with Riot Games releasing multiple new games over the past two years. In addition toLeague of Legends, Riot is now supportingTeamfight Tactics,Legends of Runeterra, andValorant, as well as other adjacent products. As fast as theLeague of Legendsuniverse is growing, there’s more in the works. One game that won’t be arriving in the immediate future, however, is Riot’sLeague of Legendsfighting gameProject L.

Project Lis one of Riot’s most anticipated upcoming releases. Fighting game fans are excited for another major game developer to enter the scene, though they are also a notoriously picky community, so getting the game in players hands as soon as possible to ensure its success should be a priority. Yet Riot has now confirmed thatdespite previous rumors,Project Lwon’t be arriving soon. Even a beta won’t be arriving in 2021, according to developers.

The news comes from Tom Cannon, the CEO ofRiot subsidiary Radiant Entertainment. Cannon shared on Twitter that he’s excited the fighting game community is hyped forProject L. He goes on to say that while development is progressing as expected, with many of the game’s “core systems” in place, there’s still a lot of work to do. As such, the current schedule doesn’t have any planned beta testing forProject Lin 2021.

All that means is there’s still a lot of development left forProject Lbefore the game is ready to be shared with the world. Keep in mind that Riot keptValorant’s action very secret, too. When it did showValorant, development was so far along that the shooter went from beta straight to launch in a relatively short time. Riot’s almost certainly going to ensureProject Lis a polished, marketable experience before it’s available in beta or otherwise.

Cannon does tease fans with when they can expect more information aboutProject L, at the very least. A developer update for the fighting game will be shared “around the end of this year,” so there will be news to look forward to in 2021 at the very least.

Project Lis just one of Riot’s in-development projects. There’s alsoProject F, an action/hack and slash game, an unnamed MMO project based onLeague of Legends, andRuined King: A League of Legends Story, which is tentatively planned to launch in 2021. There’s also a newNetflix show named Arcanelaunching later this year, too. ForLeague of Legendsfans, there’s a lot to look forward to.
