Lokiwasn’t just any othertypical TV show in the MCU.Loki’s Season 1 played a pivotal role in the MCU as a whole by introducing the concept of the multiverse. Additionally, Kang the Conqueror, the main villain of MCU Phase 4 and 5 also made his debut in the TV show and also became arecurring antagonist in later MCU movies.
With the introduction of the multiverse inLoki, the show showcased numerous variants of the mischievous half-giant god. These variants included Kid Loki, Monster Loki, Viking Loki, and many others. However, one variant stood out the most, and that was Sylvie, the female variant of Loki. But who exactly is Sylvie, and what significance did she hold in the TV show?

Who Is Sylvie In Loki?
Played by Sophia Di Martino, Sylvie is a female variant of the half-giant Asgardian God, who was taken in by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) at a very young age. The TVA marked Sylvie a nexus event and considered her existence a potentialthreat to the multiverse. Being Loki at her core, Sylvie did end up escaping the TVA at a young age and spent her childhood running away from the organization and hiding in different timelines. She even later adopted the name Sylvie instead of Loki.
Sylvie is not a direct adaptation of a comic book character and can be considered an original character. However, Sylvie has quite a lot of similarities to Amora the Enchantress and Lady Loki from the comics.
Lady Loki is essentially Loki in a female body, with various versions of the character existing. Enchantress, on the other hand, has had multiple versions in the comics. Initially named Sylvie, Enchantress was a normal girl living in Boxton, Oklahoma, until one day she miraculously gained powers after the Asgardian Gods appeared in the sky. Loki also manipulated her memories and fabricated her past making her forget her human life. Sylvie has had a weird history in the comics even fighting alongside the Avengers but later assumed the identity of Amora the Enchantress and taking on a villainous role.
What Happens To Sylvie At The End Of Loki Season 1?
Loki and Sylvie formed an unexpected alliance in the first season despite having separate goals concerning the TVA. Later, they both discover the reality of the TVA that it is not a natural creation but a construct made by He Who Remains. All the TVA employees were actually variants stolen from their timelines, rather than being specially created to serve the TVA.
As the show progresses, both Sylvie and Loki share intimate moments, including holding hands and sharing a kiss at one point. However, when they finally reach He Who Remains' hideout at the end of the times, Sylvie ends up betraying Loki, which is really not surprising considering she is a Loki herself.
He Who Remains reveals himself to be a variant of Kang the Conqueror and explains that his position and the TVA were necessary to maintain the flow of the multiverse. He presents Loki and Sylvie with two choices: either to kill him which will lead to unleash chaos upon the multiverse or take his position to maintain the multiverse. Blinded by revenge, Sylvie ignores Loki and thepotential consequences for the multiverse, ultimately killing He Who Remains after pushing Loki through a tempad portal.
Sylvie Will Return in Loki Season 2
LokiSeason 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 5th. Among the reprising cast members,Sophia Di Martino will also return as Sylviein Loki Season 2. Despite her actions causing significant problems inLokiSeason 1, Sylvie wasn’t typically portrayed as a villain. It is completely unknown what role Sylvie will play inLokiSeason 2, but it is likely that she will play a redeeming part. Still, nothing can be said about the unpredictable God of Mischief.
The synopsis ofLokiSeason 2 reveals that Loki, alongside Mobius and other members of the TVA, will be exploring the multiverseto locate Ravonna Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and Sylvie herself.McDonald’s posted a teaser earlier, showing Sylvie working as a cashier, with Loki approaching her, and she seems to recognize him immediately. How Sylvie ended up as a McDonald’s cashier remains unknown, but only time will tell.
Additional cast members have also joined, including Ke Huy Quan as a member of the TVA, and a Kang tease, which includes multiple variants of him, including Victor Timely, a Kang variant from the early 1900s acting as a scientist whose machine could potentially be the key to exploring the multiverse.
LokiSeason 2’s mainfocus will be on a Thor villaincalled Zaniac, a parasitic entity from the dark dimension, who has presumably been set loose after the multiverse was left unchecked.
