Crystal Dynamics continues to roll out post-launch updates forMarvel’s Avengers, adding some extra polish to the game as it prepares for its first Operation content update. Before Hawkeye is added, Crystal Dynamics is making sure that the current playable characters inMarvel’s Avengersare well adjusted. To that end, a recentMarvel’s Avengerspatch has made a significant change to Captain America, which should be a huge relief for dedicated players.
Captain America players likely already know what this change is about, since it has been heavily requesting for some time. Captain America’s heavy attack are now able to destroy breakable walls, just like Hulk andMs. Marvel. Previously, Captain America would be unable to break these walls and claim the rewards within unless they had a party member with that ability.

In terms of balance, the change doesn’t do anything meaningful.Marvel’s AvengersCaptain Americawill be able to earn a bit more loot than before, which could help with his progression, but being able to break walls doesn’t make him inherently stronger. However, the perception that Captain America has more utility may lead to the character being played more often.
Patch 1.3.1 also addresses several other issues inMarvel’s Avengers. One particularly nasty bug was preventing players from acceptingFaction Missionsand Villain Sectors, a major part of the endgame. Since there’s no way to go back and retroactively grant players access, Crystal Dynamics is doing the next best thing by giving free rewards to players. Logging in between now and Thursday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. PT will reward 250 Polychoron and 500 Uru for free.
Other major changes include huge nerfs to ranged homing attacks and projectiles, a serious focus for player frustrations since launch. Buffs also came for Thor’s light air hammer attacks andIron Man’s thruster uppercut. A range of other gear balance changes and bug fixes have also come through.
Marvel’s Avengerswill also be receiving its first post-launch DLC release relatively soon. Kate Bishop, also known as Hawkeye, will be released this October as part of the Operation named Taking Aim. Clint Barton, the Hawkeye many Marvel fans are familiar with thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow in a DLC release this November.Marvel’s AvengersDLCwill continue from there, as Crystal Dynamics appears to hav big plans for the game’sfuture.
Marvel’s Avengersis available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions to follow.
