Despite releasing over a week ago, the first trailer forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2still has fans theorizing about the 2023 game. Many are wonderingwhat Kraven’s role will be, if Venom will be an anti-hero or a proper villain, and how Insomniac will let players switch between Miles and Peter. On top of all this, fans are discussing which suits they want to see in the next game.
However, while it is easy to think of how great certain suits would look insideMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, one feature fans should be keeping in mind are Suit Mods and Visors. Like inSpider-Man: Miles Morales, this allows a few special abilities to be unlocked for each suit. While there are likely many abilities fans would like to see return, one of the best options is purely aesthetic. However, the nextMarvel’s Spider-Mangame should absolutely bring back theInto The Spider-Versesuit’s special features.

What Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse Mod And Visor Did
For those unfamiliar withSpider-Man: Miles Morales’Spider-Versesuit, the costume perfectly replicates the animated movie it was pulled from. The suit boasts a completely different design from the others seen in the game, as it has a neat cel shaded art style. While it would be cool on its own, as Miles’ spray-painted spider looks as stylish as it does on the big screen, it is the Suit Mod and Visor that take it to the next level.
Insomniac’sInto The Spider-Versehomageworks so well because it goes beyond a well-crafted costume. The Visor Mod, “Bam! Pow! Wam!,” replaces realistic impacts from hits with comic-inspired text bubbles. This makes it a lot of fun to dish out damage, as it feels like players are living out a comic book. The Suit Mod, “Vibe the Verse,” accomplishes this as well. Instead of the game’s incredibly smooth animation, this upgrade makes things intentionally choppy. Once again, this nails the feel ofSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, with the frame rate ensuring that the animated Miles looks great when swinging through the city.
Helping All Of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Comic-Like Suits Stand Out
While these Mods fit theSpider-Verseoutfit perfectly, they could suit other costumes just as well. For example, if a suit based onZombie Hunter Spider-Man fromWhat If…?is added, it will likely boast an art style reminiscent of the animated series. Because of this, the comic bubbles would fit perfectly, and the low frame rate effect could once again achieve a “playable comic book” feel. The Vintage Comic Book suit from the originalMarvel’s Spider-Manis another example of a suit that would be more fun to use if these features were able to be used with it.
Bringing back these two Mods would also make sense because ofSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2. The sequel to the Oscar-winning original is set to release in December of next year, meaning it will be out beforeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2drops in 2023. Not only does the sequel’s release make a good case for bringing back Miles’Spider-Versecostume, but Insomniac will have the chance to add suits for any otherSpider-Versecharacters that appear. With Spider-Man 2099 confirmed, and several other animated webslingers likely to be seen, making sure that all their suits stand out seems like a no-brainer.
While there will surely be plenty of realistic costumes on the way, such asSpider-Man: No Way Home’s Integrated Suit, Insomniac should be sure to include some fun costumes in the sequel as well. Gamers had a blast combining the comic-style skins with photo mode, and the sequel should not take that away. Instead, just like withSpider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac should go out of its way to make the cartoonier suits more memorable with the special Suit and Visor Mods.
