After an acclaimed first season that concluded airing in 2021, Season 2 of Rifujin na Magonote’sMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, has made its debut in the Summer 2023 anime season, picking up from where it left off. Having returned to the ruins of his home after beingsent to the Demon Continent during the Teleport Incident, Rudeus Greyrat, the series' protagonist, is now a broken, forlorn figure, after learning of the disappearance of his mother in the same calamity, seeing the shattered state of his family, and finally, the departure of Eris, whom he had grown to love throughout their journey to return to their respective homes.

Despite the success of his mission with Ruijerd Superdia to return Eris to her home, Rudeus learned that the Boreas line of the Greyrat family had been blamed for the Teleport Incident, leading to the execution of Eris' grandfather Sauros Boreas Greyrat. After comforting Eris in her grief, Rudeus awoke to find thatshe had left alongside Ghislainewithout so much as a goodbye, which made him feel abandoned and alone. However, he is roused from his stupor on realizing that he still had a duty to find his mother and save his family, which led him to set out on his own once again. With the many loose ends and story threads that were still left unresolved at the end of Season 1 ofMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, here are some of the most pertinent questions to be answered in Season 2.

7Where Is Sylphiette?
Rudeus' childhood friend, and his first student, Sylphiette was one of the victims of the Teleport Incident, which also transported her far away from her home in Buena Village, within the Asura Kingdom’s Fittoa Region. Having not seen her since he was shipped off to become Eris' teacher in the city of Roa, Rudeus was horrified at the thought of losing Sylphy — as he affectionately called her.
It is quite likely that Season 2 ofMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnationwillprovide some information about her conditionand whereabouts, and perhaps even feature a reunion with Rudeus.
6How Is Paul Dealing With His Grief?
Losing one’s entire family cannot be easy by any stretch of the imagination, and Paul Greyrat had to live this reality and endure the destruction of the home he had built for them. With only his daughter Norn to live for, Paul struggled to look for his family and the other survivors from Buena Village in Millis Continent, for the entire time that Rudeus was missing. Over time, his resolve weakened, and he sank into a deep depression on seeing the futility of his efforts, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
A chance encounter with Rudeus served to change this, as the two reunited after years apart. While Paul grew disdainful ofRudeus' tales of his adventures, and chided his son for not trying hard enough to search for their family, he soon began to see Rudeus' point of view and the two reconciled. Now that Rudeus has left once again to seek out Zenith, it is anybody’s guess as to whether Paul has found a new resolve, or fallen into his old ways once again.
5Where Is Zenith?
Perhaps the biggest blow dealt to Rudeus upon learning of the state of his family from his father was the revelation of his mother, Zenith, had gone missing in the Teleport Incident. Even after directing all his efforts to find her, Paul Greyrat, Rudeus' father, was not able to find any clue about where she had been transported to, leading him to regress into his old ways of womanizing and drinking.

On seeing the deplorable state his father was in, as well as realizing how much Zenith truly meant to him, Rudeus resolved to find his mother and reunite his family. This desire grew even more intense after the departure of Eris, and it was only the memory of his mother that brought him back from the brink of falling into another downward spiral. However, while attempting to locate her, Roxy Migurdua, Rudeus' former teacher, couldonly see a vague image of where she was located, making Zenith’s whereabouts one of the biggest lingering mysteries heading into Season 2.
4Will Roxy And Rudeus Cross Paths?
Rudeus holds a special place in his heart for his former mentor Roxy,a member of the Migurd race. Despite his deviant nature, he does admire her and is extremely grateful to her lessons for giving him an introduction to magic. After concluding his lessons with her, Roxy left to teach Prince Pax of the Shirone Kingdom but maintained regular correspondence with Rudeus until the time of the Teleport Incident.
Even though they have not seen each other for years, the two nearly bumped into each other multiple times during Rudeus' journey back to his homeland. While no indication of a reunion between the two has been given so far, they will certainly meet at some point during Rudeus' travels, although only time will reveal whether that will happen in Season 2.
3Where Is Ruijerd?
After completing his mission to escort Rudeus and Eris back to their home on the Central Continent, Ruijerd Superdia, the Superd member of the party Dead End, departed to search for other members of his race. The trio had formed an intense bond over the course of their journey, with Ruijerd becoming a sort of father figure to both Rudeus and Eris.
Apart from reuniting with the surviving members of his tribe, Ruijerd also seeks toredeem the name of the Superd raceand remove the curse placed on them due to the tragedy that befell them during the Laplace War. At this time, little is known about his activities, and this season may finally shed light on them.
2What Caused The Teleport Incident?
The first turning point in Rudeus' journey after being born into a new world was the Teleport Incident, which separated him and Eris from their families and destroyed the entire region they both called home.

To date, there has been no explanation for this calamity, which took innumerable lives, and separated many from their homes, loved ones, and livelihoods. Even after questioning Orsted, the Dragon God and one of the Seven Great Powers,Rudeus was unable to gain more informationabout the calamity. While the end of Season 1 did show some of the fallout from the Teleport Incident, there is still a great deal that needs to be explored regarding its source and cause.
1Where Are Ghislaine And Eris?
Another one of the biggest questions surrounding Season 2 is the whereabouts of Ghislaine and Eris, who fled from the Fittoa Region on learning that the entire Boreas household was dead. Left with a difficult choice between a political marriage and a life of destitution, Eris chose to run away with her mentor and honeher skills with the Sword God Style.
Before doing this, she asked Rudeus to become her family and the two shared a very intimate moment. Unfortunately, on waking up the next morning, Rudeus found that Eris had all but abandoned him, making him question his entire relationship with her. Fans will definitely be eager to know why Eris actually left Rudeus, where she and Ghislaine have traveled to, and how she has progressed under her mentor’s tutelage.
