The following contains spoilers forMy Hero AcademiaChapter 370, “History,” by Kohei Horikoshi, translated by Caleb Cook available in English fromViz Media.

My Hero Academia returned after a break week with quite an interesting chapter. While it was certainly underwhelming in some ways as most fans expected for the focus to stayon Deku and All For One, it was still quite an essential addition to the arc.My Hero Academia370 focused on two characters, in particular, Spinner and Shoji.

As is the case with Horikoshi quite often, compelling stories were told for both characters, starting with Spinner in the first half of the chapter and ending on a high with Shoji. My Hero Academia 370set the stage for the conclusion of this section of the Final War and fans certainly enjoyed the chapter quite a lot. Despite not reaching the heights of the previous chapter, this section of the story was certainly one that did justice to a lot of fan favorite characters.

Spinner’s Story

Spinner was one of the main charactersthat Horikoshi focused on in this chapter. A small flashback that showcased his sad past was enough for the fans to understand his perspective. Ideally, fans would like a more detailed flashback, as was seenwith the likes of Toga, and Twice as well. For Spinner, Horikoshi took the shorter route and delivered a small flashback which didn’t necessarily cover everything about him that it should have, however, it was enough for the fans to get an idea of how he suffered in the past.

By making Shigaraki his light, Spinner finally found a place to belong to and now, with the power granted to him by All For One, he was seen doing his best to ensure that society for people like him exists. Behind Spinner have rallied countless people who, just like him, have no place to belong to. To them, helping hands never arrived and that is precisely why they are up in arms today. While certainly not the most interesting part of the story, it was quite emphatic and goes without saying that Horikoshi handled this part of the chapter brilliantly.

Shoji My Hero Academia 370

After hearing of Dabi’s defeat, Spinner seems to have lost control of his powers even more. He is now rampaging with everything that he’s got and making sure that he buys enough time as well as holds off the enemy heroes as well as he possibly can. While his efforts are certainly praiseworthy, it is quite clear that he won’t be able to keep going for long. The Heroes will, eventually, triumph, and Spinner will have to fall just like Dabi did. That’s not to say that the victory of the Heroes is assured. It just so happens that they seem to be in a much better condition than Spinner right now.

Shoji’s Courage

Another very important character in this week’sMy Hero Academiachapter was Shoji. He was previously focused on a bit in the war, however, this was his stage to take and he did that in quite a splendid manner. Shoji took care of a horde of people who had rallied behind Spinner and even though he got beaten quite a bit, he didn’t abandon his ideals as a Hero. In fact, in certain situations, he even reminded the people that it is the Heroes who protect everyone, and even during the darkest of times, their concern lies with the safety of the people. With that, he fought against all those rallying behind Spinner with all his might.

For someone who needed attention desperately, this was a great moment for Shoji and his character. Fans can only hope that this continues in the next chapter as the fight between Spinner’s army and the Heroes heads towards its end. It is likely for this battle to conclude very soon. By the looks of it, Shoji and Spinner are fated to clash and their fight will likely conclude in the next chapter of my academia. For now, fans will have to wait and see what Horikoshi brings to the table next.

It was quite a brave move on Horikoshi’s part to take the focus of the battle to Spinner and it doesn’t seem as if the focus would go back there in the next chapter. Horikoshi is most likely going to conclude this section of the war first and, supposedly, declare the victory of the heroes. It is possible that, after that, more focus will be thrown on Endeavor and his group before returning tothe ultimate fight between Deku and All For One. While fans may have to bear with the less interesting fights for a while, the payoff at the end of the August is certainly going to live up to the expectations.
