Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotfans have waited with bated breath for the upcoming DLC and Time Machine update, but now they have been given a date. On March 21, more details regarding itsSuperDLC and likely the Time Machine as well will be made available, but new details have now come to light ahead of this proper reveal. However, fans expecting an adaptation of theGods of the UniverseZarcmay be in for a shock.
This information comes way of Ken Xyro, a Japanese translator andDragon Ball Z: Kakarotfan who has reliably revealed content before. Now, according to Xyro, this DLC will release sometime after the Spring, will add a playable Super Saiyan God form, introduce new skills, the ability to battle against Beerus, and a ‘story’ arc titled “A New Awakening (Part 1: Whis' Training). This can even be played before or after the main campaign.

There is no information regarding Super Saiyan Blue, with the story arc phrasing suggesting that it will come in a second DLC, and Super Saiyan God Vegeta appears sooner in the game than he did the anime. Instead of a story-based exploration of the full arc like the main game, it appears it is busting it into fragments, and just adding a new boss battle and a way to unlockSuper Saiyan God form. It seems that SSG Vegeta and SSG Goku may even be their own distinct characters, though official word on that has not yet been issued.
Xyro postulates that CyberConnect2 “might be doing a game-original take” on the arcs ofDragon Ball Super, essentially blurring the lines of the Gods of the Universe Saga fromDragon Ball Zand the God of Destruction arc fromDragon Ball Super. For many, this may be a welcomed idea to prevent the same story from being told the same way, but on the other hand, it’s concerning how the story section seems to be limited to training withWhis and Beerusbecoming another endgame boss like Bonyu.
This also implies that both story episodes will eat up theoriginal story episodes onDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s season pass, with its exact contents still remaining a mystery. As such, it becomes possible that the second story arc isn’t an exact adaptation as many expected either, so it’s unclear if it would see the return of Golden Frieza. And if it did, would he simply become another grindable boss like Beerus and Bonyu?
Time will tell, but as aforementioned, the wait isn’t that long for more specific details. March 21 will hopefully shed a lot more light onDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s Super DLC, but for now, fans should keep their expectations in check.
