Sun Havenis a brand-new Steam game that clearly takes its cues from ConcernedApe’sStardew Valley, but with some distinct features to help it stand apart from its inspiration. Developed by Pixel Sprout Studios,Sun Havenhas been available in early access for a couple of years now, but just recently enjoyed its full 1.0 release.Sun Havenis currently available at 20% off its usual priceand has “Very Positive” ratings from Steam users.
SinceStardew Valleyexploded in popularity this past decade, many games have attempted to copy its formula with varying degrees of success. Typically, theseStardew Valley-style games offer the same basic gameplay as their inspiration but with a twist.Sun Havenis no different, marryingStardew Valley-like farming and relationship mechanics with action-RPG elements and 8-player co-op.

Sun Haven’saction-RPG elementssees players battling monsters, completing quests, and leveling up their character through a skill tree when they’re not busy farming, fishing, and romancing the townsfolk. Potentially, this could helpSun Havenappeal to gamers who prefer a bit more action thanStardew Valleyoffers, and may open it up to a wider audience. The support for 8-player co-op may also draw more people toSun Haventhat may typically avoid the genre, but that remains to be seen.
AnyStardew Valleyfansintrigued bySun Havenshould note that, as of the time of this writing, the game is only available on PC. There are plans to release a Nintendo Switch port ofSun Haven, and while it was once meant to launch alongside the game’s 1.0 release, it still has yet to materialize. It’s unclear when exactly Nintendo Switch gamers will get the chance to playSun Haven, but hopefully they don’t have to wait all that much longer to try it out on their platform of choice.
As forSun Havencoming to PlayStation or Xbox, nothing to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing.Stardew Valley’s massive successis what helped it expand to more platforms, soSun Havenmay need to be a hit before the developers can justify bringing it to other consoles. For now, anyone that wants to play it will have to do so on PC or wait for the Nintendo Switch version to release at some point down the line.
