After more than ten years, not to mention the litany of re-releases as the game reaches certain milestones,The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis still proving to be a popular choice among millions of gamers. Asone of the biggest releases of the last decade, it’s unlikely that many could foresee just how much mileage Bethesda would get out of its open-world epic. However, despite its popularity, the game isn’t perfect, and there is always a way to improve on the vanilla format, as one player has done when it comes to bandits.
A modder by the name of JaySerpa has released a custom add-on forSkyrim, which goes to some lengths to inject a little more immersion into the world of Tamriel. In this instance, they’ve managed to splice together some lines from the game to incorporate more dialogue for the game’s many human and beast-like humanoid enemies that are scattered throughout the land. According to the mod’s description, there are around 500 new lines for bandits, which attempts to give them their “own personality,” combined with unique encounters for the player.

An accompanying video shows off some of these new lines, which can occur either when an enemy is idle, or during battle. The interesting thing about it is the mod has been created from already existingSkyrimdialogue and voice actor lines, which have been cut and rearranged to form a new natural sentence, or just changing one word depending on context. For example, in the vanilla game, a bandit may say “you picked a bad time to get lost, friend,” but the mod will change the last word to say “fool” instead. There are also entirely new lines, none of which tread on the toes of the main game’s dialogue.
This is also not the first time the modder has done something like this. Last year, JaySpera also uploaded amod that makesSkyrimNPCs get annoyed when they are woken. The effect relies on the same principle of splicing up the audio and mixing it up to create new sentences.
Given the fact that there areso many incredibleSkyrimmodsout there, it’s no wonder that the game has stood the test of time these past ten years. The fan base may be impatiently waiting for the next installment in theElder Scrollsseries, but for now, it seems there is still a lot more that can be done with this entry alone.
