Even though E3 has been canceled this year, gaming companies are still using the month of June to excite players for releases coming in the second half of the year, and even beyond. While Sony shared some exciting news in aState of Play presentationyesterday, Sega is taking a more gradual approach.Sonic Frontierswill be sharing updates throughout June, and a new trailer focuses on Sonic’s combat abilities.

Sonic Frontierskicked the month off with a teaser trailer on May 31, with the game’s first gameplay trailer being revealed the following day. WhileSonic Frontiersshowed a sizable map to explore for the game’s first “open-zone” area, viewers took note that almost all combat was avoided in the first batch of gameplay footage. This was most definitely done to give the abilities at players' disposal a chance to shine in its own trailer.

The next trailer makes it a point to focus on what fans can expect from the game’s more action-packed moments. It shows that Sonic still has some of his iconic moves such as the Homing Attack, but also features some new punching and kicking combos. There are also some new exciting moves added to the hedgehog’s reporter, such as a move requiring players to tap a button to unleash a flurry of shock waves toward enemies.

Among Sonic’s new abilities are a rather interesting set of finishers, such as an attack that takes Sonic back a bit to unleash a strong, zig-zag like Homing Attack that deals plenty of damage. Players can alsouse Sonic’s new “spin-cycle” abilityto circle around enemies to leave them defenseless in various ways. These moves leave plenty of variety and strategy available to fans as they play.

The trailer certainly gives a good look at what players can accomplish against these enemies and their different attacks, some of which look like they were taken from theSonic the Hedgehogmovies. Due to how the game is still a work in progress, almost everything in this trailer is subject to change, no matter how small.
