Summary
Marshall D. Teach, aka Blackbeard, isone of the Four Emperors of the SeainOne Piece.He was once an underling of the legendary Whitebeard, however, after defecting from the crew, he established his own pirate crew and has, since then, been growing in power rapidly.
Blackbeard is exceptionally powerful right now, as indicated by his 3.996 billion berry bounty. He is still growing in strength and, being one of the biggest villains inOne Piece, he’s naturally very powerful. WithOne Pieceentering its final saga, Blackbeard is now involved in the story more than ever before, and currently, only a handful of people can beat him.

Given that he is the only person with the ability to wield two overpowered Devil Fruits, Blackbeard is a force to be reckoned with for anyone. In the current era of One Piece, only a handful of individuals can stand up to him. However, that certainly does not mean that there is no one that can defeat him. When one takes into consideration the powerful individuals from the past of the One Piece world, even more characters emerge who possess the might to defeat this monster in combat. While this list already goes over the vast majority of the characters strong enough to defeat Blackbeard, there are others who have a fair shot at beating him as well. As such, this list has now been updated.
Please note that this list is in no particular order. The ranking doesn’t necessarily imply the level of strength.
21Sakazuki
The Current Fleet Admiral
Sakazuki is the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy and likely the strongest in their forces right now. He is a user of the Magu Magu no Mi, a Logia-type of Devil Fruit that turns him into magma and allows him to manipulate it freely. Sakazuki is extremely powerful, and his devil fruit is known to possess the offensive power of the highest order.
At the same time, he also has a very powerful Haki. While he isn’t confirmed to have Conqueror’s Haki just yet, given that the previous Fleet Admiral had this power, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that he has it as well. Regardless, he is capable of beating Blackbeard and the latter has already run from him on one occasion.
20Dracule Mihawk
The Strongest Swordsman
Dracule Mihawk is the World’s Strongest Swordsman in One Piece and a man worth 3.590 billion berries. Undoubtedly, he is among the strongest characters in the story and one certainly capable of fighting Blackbeard.
Mihawk was strong enough to compete with Shanks once upon a time and, currently, given that he is in his prime, he can certainly challenge the Yonko. Even though Blackbeard is extremely overpowered, Mihawk is someone who can certainly hold his own against him and, perhaps, even win.
19Boa Hancock
The Empress of Amazon Lily
The Pirate Empress and the leader of the Kuja Pirates, Boa Hancock is one of the former Warlords of the Sea. She has a bounty of 1.659 billion berries on her head and that just goes to show how big a threat she is in the world of One Piece. Hancock possessesone of the most overpowered Devil Fruits in the story.
Blackbeard himself admitted to the fact that, if given the opportunity, Hancock can turn him to stone within a matter of seconds. Furthermore, she is also a user of all three Haki types and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her being a user of the advanced form of the Color of the Supreme King as well.
18Prime Rayleigh
Roger’s Right Hand Man
Rayleigh is one character who fans know to be incredibly overpowered inOne Piece. In fact, in the Final Saga of the story, Rayleigh came face to face with Blackbeard on Amazon Lily as he was trying to de-escalate the situation on the island.
There, Rayleigh made a grand presence and it became quite clear for the fans to see that he could certainly take on Blackbeard in combat. However, it must also be noted that Rayleigh himself mentioned that in a long dragged-out fight, he would likely end up losing to Blackbeard. That said, this also means that in his prime, when Rayleigh was much younger and stronger, he could have potentially defeated Blackbeard in combat. Unfortunately, fans will never know who the stronger between these two characters truly was.
17Sengoku
The Marine Fleet Admiral
One of the legendary figures of theOne Pieceworld, Sengoku is the former Fleet Admiral of the Marines. He is extremely powerful, thanks to his incredible Mythical Zoan Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Buddha fruit. Of course, on top of that, he also has incredible Haki and he’s one of the only two Marines to have access to all three kinds of Haki. He is a legendary figure whose name is spoken of in the same breath as the likes of Roger, Whitebeard, and Garp.
Of course, he’s old right now, however, he doesn’t seem to be suffering from any health-related complications. At the same time, fans should also remember that Sengoku, in his prime, was an absolute monster and he would certainly be capable of defeating Blackbeard if these two ended up fighting at their very best.
16Monkey D. Dragon
The Leader of The Revolutionary Army
The Commander in Chief of the Revolutionary Army,Monkey D. Dragon is the World’s Worst Criminaland an extremely dangerous man. Not much has been revealed about Dragon so far, however, given that his commanders all boast incredible strength and influence in the world, Dragon is set to be extremely powerful.
Both his son and his father are known powerful figures in the world. Dragon himself is certainly going to be extremely dangerous as well. It goes without saying that he will be a user of advanced Conqueror’s Haki.
On top of this, Dragon also has his unique fighting style called Ryusoken. What’s more, he could also possess a Devil Fruit power related to wind and all that would make him powerful enough to potentially beat Blackbeard.
15Monkey D. Garp
The Hero Of The Marine
Monkey D. Garp is a Vice Admiral of the Navyand the strongest Marine to ever live in the world ofOne Piece.Garp is exceptionally powerful and his level of strength is very high even though he is in his old age and has weakened quite a bit. Garp is a user of all the Haki types and he also possesses the power to coat himself in the Color of the Supreme King.
Garp was seen launching an assault on the Pirate Island recently and he did this knowing that Blackbeard could be there. In contrast, Rayleigh openly admitted that he would not be able to take down Blackbeard. Garp is certainly in a league of his own and if Whitebeard’s performance in Marineford is anything to go by, Garp is certainly capable of taking on Blackbeard and, perhaps, even beating him.
14Monkey D. Luffy
The Future Pirate King
Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist of One Piece and currently, he is one of the Yonko of the Sea. Luffy is extremely powerful, especially after the Awakening of his Devil Fruit which has turned him into the Warrior of Liberation, the Sun God, Nika. Luffy and Blackbeard are destined to fight against each other.
While Blackbeard is eternal darkness, Luffy is the sun. Of course, eventually, Luffy will triumph over Blackbeard and he already has the power to do so. With his Awakened Devil Fruit as well as his Haki, which has been advanced in all three spheres, Luffy possesses the power to beat Blackbeard.
13Shiki
The Flying Pirate
Known as the Flying Pirate, Shiki was a monstrously powerful individual who ruled a significant portion of the Grand Line long ago. He’s a pirate in the same league as the likes of Roger, Whitebeard, Sengoku, and Garp. Undoubtedly, Shiki possesses monstrous strength that can only be rivaled by a select few individuals. In fact, in all-out combat, Shiki possessed the largest armada on the Grand Line that could have crushed the Roger Pirates as well, had a storm not struck and saved Roger and his crew.
In terms of physical strength, Shiki is no less than a yonko of theOne Pieceworld, and he possesses tremendous Haki, along with masterful swordsmanship. His biggest strength is the power of the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, which allows him to make Non-Living things levitate, making this a monstrously powerful ability, especially against Blackbeard, since he can simply attack him from afar. Given that he is an individual in the same league as the likes of Roger and Whitebeard, it should not come as a surprise to the fans to know that he has a fair shot at beating Blackbeard. However, the reverse could easily be true as well.
12Big Mom
The Strongest Woman In One Piece
Big Mom is one of the most elite pirates to have livedin the world ofOne Piece.Her 4.388 billion berry bounty goes to show for it. Big Mom possesses an incredible ability of the Soru Soru No Mi, which allows her to manipulate Souls. She can extract the souls from those who fear her directly, and she can also grant souls to anyone, be it a living or a non-living creature.
Big Mom can create powerful homies to aid her in combat, and she can even consume her own soul to give her a power buff. At full strength, Big Mom is known to be a monster in the same league as Kaido, which goes to show how powerful she truly is. She can wield all three types of Haki, having trained advanced Conqueror’s Haki to an extreme level. All in all, Big Mom is certainly an individual who can rival and defeat Blackbeard, however, the reverse could also be true. It would be quite an open battle between these two individuals if they were to ever fight.
