One Pieceis one of the longest-running anime around, and it has given fans a lot of memorable moments over the years. It is filled with humor and light-hearted comedy, but it doesn’t take too long for the series to take a serious turn. Each action has its consequences, so it is crucial that every character makes the right decision.

There have been times inOne Piecewhen characters have made outrageous decisions that have caused problems for them and their crew members. Mostly characters who find it hard to separate emotion from critical thinking end up making the worst decisions. With that in mind, here are some of the dumbest decisions ever made byOne Piececharacters.

6Shanks Sacrificing His Arm

Shanks is a character, who is absolutely adored byOne Piecefans. Ever since his introduction, Shanks has remained a mysterious character as there is very little information available about him. Shanks is responsible for inspiring Luffy to become a pirate. When Luffy was taken away by Higuma, Shanks followed them and saved Luffy from the Lord of the Coast. However, it came at the cost of Shanks' left arm.

WhenShanks was asked about his arm by Whitebeard, the former said that he made a bet on the new era. Even so, it does seem like a dumb choice considering Shanks could have easily scared away the monster with his Haki, so he could save Luffy without having to lose his arm.

5Ace Returning To Fight Akainu

This particular entry is very controversial as there are many fans who believe that Ace made an absolutely foolish decision by deciding to go after Akainu. Ace’s decision was based on emotions, and it was perfectly normal for him to go and fight the person who tried to badmouth Whitebeard, whom he considered his father.

Ace had every right to go for Akainu and this decision came after Whitebeard had risked his life to save Ace. What makes this a dumb decision is the fact that Ace wasted the sacrifice of every pirate, who fought to prevent his execution. Also, it is often overlooked that Ace only died to save Luffy fromAkainu’s devil fruit enhanced attack.

4Luffy Punching A Celestial Dragon

The Sabaody Archipelago arc is one of the best arcs inOne Piece. This arc introduced loads of new characters including the Supernovas andNavy Admiral Kizaru. It also revealed the ugly side of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons. The Celestial Dragons showed absolutely no concern for the lives of ordinary people, and they enslaved whosoever that they wanted. Despite their cruel actions, no one could defy them as the consequences of laying a hand on them were too dire.

However, all of that changed when Saint Charlos shot Hachi with his gun. Hachi was badly wounded and seeing Charlos celebrate made Luffy furious, and he punched the Celestial Dragon, which resulted in Kizaru having to come to the island. Kizaru attacked and captured numerous pirates. Also, Kizaru was close to killing Zoro, but, luckily, the latter was saved by Rayleigh. Luffy’s actions put the entire Straw Hat crew in jeopardy, and it was only due to the efforts of Kuma and the Dark King that they were saved. Is it one of the best moments in the series? For sure. Is it a smart decision? Absolutely not.

3Zoro Did Not Kill Monet

Roronoa Zoro is the second-strongest fighter in the Straw Hat Pirates. He has been a part of some of the most incredible moments in the entire series and he will likely continue to do so in future chapters and arcs. While Zoro is blessed with immense strength though, he is not the smartest Straw Hat by any means, and he has made some very questionable decisions over the years. The one that stands out the most is perhaps his decision not to hurt Monet.

Zoro believes that women cannot fight on the same level as men and so when he was fighting against Monet, the Straw Hat decided not to use Haki to kill her. This decision would have come back to hurt Zoro later as Monet was about to blow up the entire factory, which would have killed everyone. Luckily for Zoro, Caesar stabbed Monet’s heart mistaking it for Smoker’s.

2Squard Taking Akainu’s Word

Squard was allied with the Whitebeard Pirates, and he was a key figure in the Summit War arc. He was manipulated by Akainu into believing that Whitebeard did not care about his allies, and he wanted to rescue Ace at any cost. Squard was convinced, and so he stabbed Whitebeard, who was already sick.

However, the Yonko did not hurt him. Instead, Whitebeard hugged Squard and forgave him. It was only then that Squard realized that he had been made a fool of.

1Katakuri Stabbing Himself

Charlotte Katakuri is the strongest Sweet Commanderof the Big Mom Pirates. He possesses Advanced Armament and Observation Haki, which makes him an extremely strong opponent. He gave Luffy a tough fight, but, in the end, Luffy managed to triumph. However, it was down to Katakuri acting out of honor.

When Flampe attacked and injured Luffy, Katakuri had a significant advantage over his opponent. However, Katakuri did not want to win the fight in such a dishonorable way, so he used his own trident to wound himself, which evened things up. This decision would soon come back to haunt Katakuri though, as Luffy handed the Sweet Commander the first defeat of his life.
