Cassidy’s new magnetic grenade inOverwatch 2has been a controversial ability in the eyes of fans, but many players have pointed out that the ability is having some serious issues on the Paraiso map due to an odd bug. Cassidy’s throwable utility item has seen several overhauls over the course ofOverwatch 2’s life so far, with the character’s original flashbang ability being replaced by a sticky grenade which recently became capable of slowing enemies as well.

It seems that Cassidy’s magnetic grenade has been a tough ability for the developers to perfect in terms of balancing, as it seems to be one of the most frequently-adjusted abilities in the game. With the release of Season 5, this magnetic grenade has become capable of not only slowing enemies upon impact for a short duration, but also temporarily applying the new “hindered” effect that prohibits affected targets from using any of their movement abilities. Prior tothe update that came withOverwatch 2’s latest season, Cassidy’s magnetic grenade simply stuck to nearby targets and did damage upon detonation, though the ability’s damage has now been tuned down to compensate for its added utility.

The newchanges to Cassidy’s sticky grenade inOverwatch 2have been controversial nonetheless, though many fans have pointed out an issue with the grenade following a recent patch that aimed to make the weapon’s tracking less severe. This small update seems to have unintentionally brought in another glitch that occurs exclusively on the Paraiso map according to players, and causes every second magnetic grenade thrown by Cassidy to vanish. An example of this glitch in action has been provided by a player named zhxwks on Reddit, though while it would appear that every other thrown grenade simply disappears and fails to detonate, other fans have pointed out that this is only a visual bug on the Cassidy player’s end.

Mechanically, the grenade is still normally thrown and will attach to and affect players as intended, though the visual issue certainly makes it more difficult for Cassidy mains to tell whether their grenade is hitting its target. This visual bug still doesn’t apply to every thrown grenade though, but bugged grenades will result in a detonation occurring at the location that the player threw it. This isn’t the first time the Paraiso map has seen bugs like this, with apreviousOverwatch 2glitch affecting Mercyresulting in the map being temporarily removed from rotation.

The influx ofbugs throughout the recent seasons ofOverwatch 2have become a big issue for players, from texture glitches to bugs that completely break Kiriko’s Swift Step ability. Season 5, while squashing some of the game’s issues, has also introduced countless new bugs, and fans are disappointed that the game isn’t delivering as smooth an experience as was expected from the sequel.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
