Atlus' belovedPersonaseries has seen a massive surge in popularity following the release ofPersona 5in 2016. After its global success, the case for the eventual release ofPersona 6has all but been confirmed. While players wait to see what the next entry in the series will have to offer, they can revisit olderPersonagames such asPersona 3 PortableandPersona 4 Golden, which are now available on almost all current generation platforms, or dive back into the world ofPersona 5with its New Game Plus mode. At this point in time, very little is known about the state of Persona 6, as Atlus is currently heavily involved in letting its otherPersonatitles taste the limelight while simultaneously developing new spin-offs and remakes.
Aside from the theme ofPersona 6being green, nothing conclusive has been revealed about it, allowing room for speculations. With a solid line-up of predecessors,Persona 6has a tough bar to cross, and so it should focus on featuring the best aspects from all previous entries in the franchise while introducing new elements and mechanics to set it apart as well. One key feature thatPersona 6can integrate and build upon is the New Game Plus mode fromPersona 4 Golden,Persona 5,andPersona 5 Royal.

How The New Game Plus Mode of Previous Persona Games Can Influence P6
New Game Plus inPersonadoes what one would expect, allowing players to do second playthrough of the game, but with the addition of few tips and tricks, such as carrying over of social stats, persona compendium, skill cards, items, money, and also features other bonuses like HP and SP boosts. However, there is more to the New Game Plus modes of these games than what meets the eye.
The main story ofPersona 4andPersona 5have no shortage ofmemorable boss fightswhich keep the narrative fresh and engaging, but as fun asPersonagames are, they are known for being quite long, and thus the idea of a second playthrough is not always something that fans will find appealing. Fortunately, Atlus tactfully dealt with this issue by featuring secret boss battles in the New Game Plus Modes ofPersona 4 Golden,Persona 5, andPersona 5 Royal.
In all the previously mentioned titles, players get to fight the keepers of the velvet room in an intense and difficult boss fight the likes of which requires a thorough mastery of the games.Persona 4 Goldenallows players to face off against Margaret on their second run of the game, whilePersona 5features a fight against Caroline and Justine after completion of the first playthrough. Although these fights are easily accessible on the second playthrough, they serve as the true final bosses of the stories due to their difficulty level, and hence going into these fights under leveled is bound to result in the player’s team getting massacred.Persona 5 Royal’sNew Game Plusmakes things even more interesting by featuring three secret boss fights, those being Jose, Caroline and Justine, and Lavenza. Each of these fights is a thrilling experience and offers great challenge for hardcore fans of the series.
Even with a new coat of paint,Persona 6is bound to be just as, if not longer thanPersona 5, something that could push players away from a second playthrough if they have no reason to go back through the game. Thus, it makes perfect sense for developers to try and make the New Game Plus ofPersona 6more intriguing than the previous games. On top of featuring boss fights against the guards of the Velvet Room, it could also potentially feature a secret dungeon centered around the guards. To go even further and make things more exciting,Persona 6’ssecond playthrough could also feature boss fights against the Phantom Thieves, or at least the leaders of previousPersonatitles.
Persona 6is currently in development.
