One Reddit user, whattheefth, posted to the PlayStation subreddit, a series of pictures showing off their impressive PlayStation 2 themed PlayStation 5 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand. While this may be a mock-up and not an actual reskinned PlayStation 5, this is an interesting look at the concepts fans can come up with just liketheMortal Kombat 11PlayStation 5 fan designthat was shown off earlier this year.

The attention to detail in this design is an impressive feat with subtle tweaks that manage to celebrate the PlayStation 2 while maintaining the unique design of thePlayStation 5. The sleek, black contrasted with the colorful PlayStation logo look like something Sony would actually release, if even as a limited edition design. Even a mockup ofthe PlayStation 5’s beloved DualSense controllermakes an appearance complete with the vibrant face buttons of controllers from PlayStation past.
Plenty of fan made console mockups focus on a single gamelike these coolCyberPunk2077andHorizon: Forbidden Westconsole designs, but seeing a design celebrate the history of the console itself is a different affair that if real, could appeal to a larger audience than one that appeals to a specific fan base. In any case, the attention to detail and care is palpable in these mockups and it’s a bit saddening to realize that they are simply mockups and not available at a retail level.
