A long-timePokemonfan has put together an image containing the key features they believe would create the ultimatePokemongame. While each entry into the mainlinePokemonseries has possessed its own strengths and weaknesses, a game containing the best each generation has to offer would surely be unparalleled.
WithPokemonbeing unarguably one of, if not the single most recognizable video game franchise in the world, there is a never ending pressure for Game Freak to continually revitalize the franchise with each new installment. While each set of games brings an array of new features, content that defined past generations, such as the Battle Frontier and Mega Evolution, are often left in the past. WithPokemon Scarlet and Violetbeing review bombeddue to their performance issues and the removal of some useful features, one fan has taken it upon themselves to conceptualize their own idealPokemontitle.

Taking to Reddit, user NuclearCandle shared an image containing their favorite aspects of past titles, including the likes ofPokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver’s ability to explore two regions in a single game, N and Team Plasma fromPokemon Black and White, andPokemon Legends: Arceus' wild encounter mechanics. WhilePokemon Scarlet and Violetremoved some useful featurespresent in previous titles, their supporting cast and introduction of the Terastal Phenomenon were worthy additions to the list.
Perhaps the most unsurprising entry on the list following thelackluster Elite FourofPokemon Scarlet and Violetwas the addition ofPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s Elite Four and Champion, Cynthia. Since her introduction to the franchise in 2006, Cynthia has set the bar incredibly high for other champions and the recent remakes have introduced her disgustingly powerful Garchomp to a new generation of players. Aspects included from other titles include triple battles, the Battle Frontier, Mega Evolution,Pokemon Sword and Shield’s quality of life features, and an unrestricted national Pokedex including critters from all past games.
While creating a game containing all of these features would be immensely difficult due to the sheer scale of the project, it would be a dream come true for historied fans who have played through all nine generations of the mainline games. With the latest set ofPokemongames containing several older features such as apricorn balls and gen 1 Pokemon in addition to a suspected Kalos DLC hinting atMega Evolution possibly returning inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, maybe one day all of these defining aspects of past games will find themselves united in a future title.
