Summary
Not every creature of thePokemonworld is complete with a visually-appealing shiny form, so one creative member of the community with a particular love for the series' rarest critters designs some entirely new looks for some of their favorites. The existence of shinies have long been one of the most attractive aspects of thePokemonseries in the eyes of many fans, with countless “shiny hunters” dedicated to seeking out and collecting these extremely scarce creatures.
Shiny Pokemon may not have any edge over regular ones when it comes to stats or battle capability, and while they’re practically identical to regular Pokemon save for an alternative color scheme, their extremely rare default spawn chance makes them sought after by collectors andPokemonenthusiasts alike. While the colors used for each species of shiny Pokemon are specifically chosen by their designers these days, it often seems like the colors used in shinies have little or no relation to the pocket monster itself. Some shiny Pokemon are extremely difficult to differentiatefrom regular ones and others are widely considered by fans to be pretty unpleasant on the eyes, prompting many fans to take shiny redesigns into their own hands.
It’s often the case thatPokemonfans redesign shinieswith a particular logic or reason behind their choice of colors, a technique not typically seen employed for official shiny designs. One fan, known online as awesomecat42, recently shared several new sets of their own shiny designs with the community as part of an ongoing project which like-minded fans are encouraged to check out. Their designs are focused on a total of 9 different species of Pokemon, starting with the Lake Guardian trio, who each received various shiny redesigns based on other particularly iconic creatures from the Gen 4 games. The other Pokemon to receive new looks here include Houndoom, Cinccino, Mr. Mime, Porygon-Z, Cherrim, and Serperior.
All of these Pokemon saw various impressive redesigns using multiple color schemes, each of which focuses on a certain theme, such as autumn colors for Serperior or the application of Galarian Mr. Mime’s standard color scheme to the Kantonian Mr. Mime variant. The creator also experimented with a slightly cursed Mr. Mime coloration simply titled “human man”, which applies a morehuman color scheme to the humanoid Pokemon.
Shiny Pokemon continue to be a popular topic among the community, especially from a creative perspective. With thelatest entries in the core-seriesPokemonseriestaking the total number of creatures beyond the 1,000 milestone, fan artists have plenty of material to work with when it comes to redesigning any of the various aspects of these critters.
