APokemonfan has recently shared a new regional variant for Ponyta inspired by Ancient Greece, turning the pony-like Pokemon into a Flying-type creature. WhilePokemonfans create art depicting unofficial regional variants often, this latest work from this artist really stands out due to its creativity.

Ponyta isa Fire-type Pokemonintroduced inPokemon Blue and Red. It’s clearly inspired by a pony, and it evolves to Rapidash at Level 40. Starting inPokemon Sword and Shield, Ponyta gained its first official regional variant, the Galarian Ponyta. This new version looked like a more magical pony and was a Psychic-type creature.

Now, a prolificPokemonfan artist called Matratzfratz has unveiled their latest creation, a Flying-type Ponyta inspired by Ancient Greece. According to the creator, they had three main inspirations while coming up with the new design: the Greek god Hermes, chariots, and wheelchairs for dogs. In this fan art, Ponyta is represented as a Pegasus-like creature with wheels as its back legs. Despite still maintaining Ponyta’s horse structure, however, the artist greatly changed its head, which is now flatter and has huge eyebrows shaped like feathers, as well as big, yellow eyes.

Flying-Type Ponyta Regional Variant Pokemon Fan Art

This work is just one of many regional variants shared with thePokemoncommunity lately. Earlier this week, for example, aPokemonfan devised a regional variant for Tropiusthat was greatly inspired by Japan’s Mount Fuji. In this new design, the critter kept its long neck and still looked like a dinosaur, but instead of having wings made out of green leaves, it had blue skin and a pink coat that resembled cherry blossom leaves.

A few days ago, another fan shared an amazingPokemonfan art with the community: aregional variant for Larvitar and its evolutions. This new version of the Gen 2 creatures reimagined them as reptile monsters covered in crystals and looked amazing, with Tyranitar resembling a villain fromGodzilla.

WhilePokemonfans are imagining new alternative regional variants for Ponyta, its official Galarian form is still quite popular. Last month, a fan devised afusion between the Galarian Ponyta and Rowlet. The result was pretty interesting, as Ponyta was turned into a small unicorn called Sauergazing, which had its fur covered in leaves and looked very cute. ThePokemoncommunity is likely to keep designing unofficial variants for popular creatures, coming up with more creative combinations between iconic monsters and different types.
