As manyPokemonfans are making unique creations based onPokemon Scarlet and Violet, one continues to celebratePokemon Sun and Moon’s Gen 7 with their own evolution for Dhelmise. Alongside the new Pokedex entries brought to the series withPokemon Sun and Moonlike Dhelmise, the two titles also introduced regional variants which continue to be included in the latestPokemontitles.
A Reddit user has garnered over 700 upvotes on theirPokemonfan art upload that portrays their idea of what a Dhelmise evolution should look like. Although most Pokemon are loosely based on real-life animals like Gen 2’s legendary beasts resembling a mix of dogs and cats, and Squirtle’s design fittingly being based on a squirrel and turtle, somePokemon are based on inanimate objects.Pokemon Sun and Moonintroduced several such Pokemon like the sand castle Palossand or nebula-like Cosmog, but thisPokemonfan focused on changing the anchor shape of Dhelmise.

Reddit user GuillGougou recently shared an image of their interpretation of what thePokemon Sun and MoonGrass andGhost-type Pokemonshould look like after evolving, swapping the anchor shape for an old naval ship. Ignoring the fins that point downward, the next stage of Dhelmise still retains the anchor shape that has been elongated to reflect the change into a ship, with a mast near the Pokemon’s head. The new evolution for Dhelmise is called Devastanaught, and it launches its bowsprit “like a harpoon” while “haunting” Wailords regularly despite being unable to eat their prey.
Differing significantly from thePokemon Scarlet and Violetdolphin Finizen, this fan art shows only a glimpse at the Pokemon as its eye peeks out from behind seaweed, and an anchor tail references its first form. Given the similarities that it shares with theSun and MoonPokemon that inspired it, the Dhelmise evolution would likely continue to have Grass and Ghost typing. The unique concept for thePokemon Sun and Moonmixed-type Pokemon could also offer interesting lore implications if the Pokedex entry could successfully explain how a ship anchor eventually became what looks like a whaling vessel.
SomePokemonplayers aren’t a fan of the inanimate object Pokemon that have been introduced over the years, while others tend to prefer them and fill their parties with these peculiar Pokedex entries. Given that GuillGougou has created fan art in the past of an evolution forPokemonsecond generationGrass-typeSunflora, it’s possible that Dhelmise isn’t their last interpretation of wherePokemoncould go in the future.
