Posted onto a Pokemon subreddit, a user by the apt handle of u/tapclay shows off their impressive clay art of ninth-generationPokemonnewcomer Lechonk. The entire clay sculpture is quite small, fitting well within the palm of the creator’s hand, but its details are spot-on. The body is the familiar dark gray, along with its pink nose and feet, and signature yellow eye growths. The ears, eyes, and tail all look like a 3D-printed version of the actual character model, with the clay Lechonk sculpture’s incredibly smooth lines giving it a very polished and professional look.
In addition to the gallery of still photos, u/tapclay also includes a video showing the impressive creation process.
The Lechonk clay art is certainly a hit with fans, with both the photos and video garnering hundreds of views and likes collectively. The Lechonk art is the latest in an increasingly-long line of clayPokemon Scarlet and Violetsculptures from the artist. Earlier this year, the same person created anincredible clay sculpture of Quaxly. One ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s starters, the adorable duck Pokemon was done in similarly expert fashion to Lechonk, looking more like a professionally manufactured product rather than a fan-made hand-made creation.
In addition to being made entirely out of clay, Lechonk has also been fashioned entirely out of yarn. On the same subreddit, one user has posted their equally impressivecrocheted version of Lechonk. While a vastly different material, both renditions perfectly capture the Pokemon’s appearance, with its fairly simplistic design making it a more accessible Pokemon to recreate, regardless of medium.
While more information regardingPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be revealed at the aforementioned Pokemon Presents, analyzing the significance of Lechonk’s namemay provide fans with some of the game’s yet-to-be revealed details.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlaunches November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
