APokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer put together a team of their favorite, moth-based Pokemon available in the ninth generation. The player then posted their team on social media and received praise for their dedication to a particular theme based on what is available inPokemon Scarlet and Violetat the time of writing.

While specific Pokemon that fit a certain category can be hard to come by,moth Pokemon can be found in abundance in Area Zeroin the latter portion ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Like moths to a flame, or Tera crystals in the case of Area Zero, moth Pokemon appear to be drawn to particular areas of the Paldea region, as pointed out by other players. While The Pokemon Company can be clever with their placement of Pokemon locations and habitats, the dedication that trainers have to seek these Pokemon out and discover interesting facts about them continues to this day.

A Reddit user with the fitting name of Aquamoth shared their roster of Shiny Pokemon that consisted of Venomoth, Masquerain, Volcarona, Frosmoth, Slither Wing, and Iron Moth. Both Volcarona and Slither Wing made the top rankings of a recent survey ofthe most popular Pokemon in Japan. According to Aquamoth, each of their Pokemon except for the Paradox Pokemon is female, and each team member is a different dual-type Pokemon. For example, Frosmoth and its pre-evolution Snom are still the only Ice/Bug Pokemon to date. Though the Bug/Water dual-type Masquerain may not appear to be a moth at first glance, its Japanese name “Amemoth” was enough of a reason for Aquamoth to put Masquerain on their team.

However, of all the moth Pokemon, only Iron Moth is not a Bug-type, but instead a Fire/Poison dual-type. Both those types are also the second types that Volcarona and Venomoth respectively have. By comparison, Iron Moth’sPokemon Scarletcounterpart Slither Wing is a Bug/Fighting dual-type. Slither Wing shares its uncommon type combination with only Heracross, Buzzwole, and Pheromosa. Given that Volcarona and pre-evolution Larvesta are still the only Bug/Fire dual-type Pokemon in the main series, it adds a layer of complexity tothe relationship between Volcarona and its Paradox counterparts.

Aquamoth’s post received over 500 upvotes on the r/Pokemon subreddit within a few hours of posting. Aquamoth stated that they received help from the r/pokemontrades subreddit in getting a Shiny Iron Moth since they playedPokemon Scarlet. Aquamoth said that they used a combination of sandwich powers andthe ubiquitous Shiny Charmto help in their quest, as well. While the hunt for Shiny Pokemon can seem daunting, the dedication ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers like Aquamoth cannot be understated.
