Summary
Those who have been playingPokemon Scarlet and Violetsince launch will no doubt remember the countless weird bugs shared online, but one player seems to have stumbled across a new and pretty creepy glitch following the launch of the games' The Teal Mask DLC pack. A lot of the most blatant and commonplace technical issues seen inPokemon Scarlet and Violethave been fixed since launch via various patches, and while the game still isn’t in the state many would want it to be, some of the new bugs encountered among the expansion’s release reminds fans of the game’s controversial release period.
From T-posing NPCs to player models morphing into huge monstrous beings in the blink of an eye, the Gen 9Pokemongames have long been plagued with bugs, with these relatively common gameplay interruptions regarded to be one of the most obvious problems with the games alongside their less-than-ideal graphics. The bright side toPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s buggy nature is that most of the game’s bizarre bugs are typically quite entertaining if nothing else, with frustrating or impactful game issues thankfully remaining rare. With therelease ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC packearlier in September though, players have been able to travel beyond Paldea to new locations where never-before-seen Pokemon reside.

While the first part of the game’s Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLC does boast a decent amount of new gameplay content, it also includes new cosmetics with which to customize the player character. The Gen 9 protagonist receives a whole new outfit and hairstyle when first traveling to the land of Kitakami, and for some reason, the male protagonist of the games has recently been haunting a player on their journey through the main campaign. The player, known online as PittooPlays, has shared in-game footage of this phenomenon across various posts online, which show the default male protagonist appearing in doorways across the region in locations such as caves and gyms. The particular cause of this bug seems to be a mystery, though many fans have taken the opportunity to point out how this creepy glitch could make fora good newPokemoncreepypasta.
The core-seriesPokemongames have served as the birthplace for countless spooky fanmade stories over the years, with some of the franchise’s most popular urban legends originating from the Gen 1 titles nearly three decades ago. This isn’t too much of a surprise considering howunnerving some ofPokemon’s source material isthough, asPokemongames haven’t been afraid to include creepy locations, lore, and even actual ghosts.
As entertaining as those stories may be, the strange appearances of this ghost-like NPC are, perhaps disappointingly, just the result ofanother bug inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. The seemingly cursedPokemonfan can only wait and see whether this bug persists in the future, possibly in the second part of the games' DLC which releases later this year on December 14.
