Summary

Some recently emerged teasers suggest that the upcoming DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill introduce another tea-themed pocket monster. The first part ofThe Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansionis scheduled for a September 13 release, while the mysterious creature’s reveal is rumored to be happening on August 22.

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company previously confirmed that the two-partDLC will add some new Pokemon toScarlet and Violet. While some of those creatures like Fezandipiti and Dipplin have already been revealed in recent months, it would appear that at least one other upcoming Pokemon remains under wraps.

The first indication thatPokemonfans should keep an eye on August 22emerged during the 2023 Pokemon World Championships, when some press members received a tea set with that date, which led many to believe that a reveal of a new tea-themed pocket monster is on the horizon. Since then, the officialPokemonsite added what appears to be green tea powder to its background, with that pattern also appearing on its Facebook and Twitter account banners, as first spotted by Serebii’s Joe Merrick.

Given that state of affairs, it seems plausible that the Teal Mask DLC will add a new tea-themed Pokemon toScarlet and Violet. While such a creature could introduce an entirely new evolution chain to the series, the niche nature of the tea theme made many fans believe it will most likely be related to Sinistea and Polteageist fromPokemon Sword and Shield. The upcoming pocket monster could hence either complete Sinistea’s evolutionary chain or serve as an alternative first evolution of the Ghost-type Pokemon.

The latter possibility is already backed by some precedent, as it was only a few weeks ago thatScarlet and Violetrevealed 4 new DLC Pokemon, including Dipplin, an alternative evolution of Applin. Much like Sinistea, the apple-like Pokemon was first introduced inSword and Shield. Another Generation 8 creature that will receive a new evolution inScarlet and Violetis Duraludon, although its evolved form, Archaludon, isn’t set to debut in The Teal Mask but The Indigo Disk, the second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero which has yet to be treated to a concrete release date.

The mysterious tea-themed Pokemon might not be the final new creature arriving in The Teal Mask, with one previous leak suggesting the first part of thePokemon Scarlet and Violetexpansion will introduce seven such species. However, The Pokemon Company has so far only revealed five of them: Dipplin, Fezandipiti, Munkidori, Ogerpon, and Okidogi.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now on Nintendo Switch.
