In 2021Pokemoncelebrated its 25th anniversary. As part of those celebrations,Pokemonhas released multiple new trading cards, a remaster ofPokemon DiamondandPearl, and some slightly unexpected crossovers, such as one betweenPokemonand Converse, which saw the clothing company produce sweaters, t-shirts and shoes for thePokemonfan looking to add to their wardrobe. Even with 2021 now finished, thePokemoncrossovers seem to be continuing in full force.
Pokemonis a widely known and recognized IP, and is no stranger to collaborations and crossovers. In recent years, fans have even seen thePokemonIP go to unexpected places, like into the MOBA sphere withPokemon Unite. ThePokemonx Converse event wasn’tPokemon’sfirst collaboration with a clothing brand in 2021 either. At the beginning of that yearPokemonteamed up with Levi’s to create new designs for apparel. Now, it is skateboard designer Bear Walker that’s collaborating withPokemon.

In a new series of skateboards, entitled “An Evolution for Everyone,” the nine available skateboards show off the original Eevee, followed by each of thePokemon’sevolutions. Eevee is one of the most recognizablePokemonfrom the game series, featuring alongside Pikachu in theLet’s Go!games. In the product description on the Pokemon Centerwebsite, Bear Walker is described as a “master craftsman of carved wood skateboards,” who’s partnering “with Pokemon Center to create our fifth series of nine limited-edition 29-inch skateboards.”
The skateboards have a unique design for each of Eevee’s evolutions, and don’t just feature thePokemonon the skateboard. Alongside having the Eevee or its evolution front and center, skaters will likely appreciate the extra detail put into the surroundings of thePokemon. Umbreon, for example, features a moon hovering overhead on the skateboard’s design, referencing the way Eevee evolves into Umbreon through creating a strong bond with its trainer over nighttime. This isn’t Bear Walker’s first collaboration withPokemoneither, as the skateboard creator had previously created a customPikachu skateboardin January 2021.
Though the 25th anniversary ofPokemonhas officially passed, Nintendo still seems to be content with producing morePokemoncontent for fans to get their hands on. Later this month will see the release of the highly-anticipatedPokemon Legends: Arceus, and for fans who want more than the games, collaborations come in many forms, from aPokemon GOevent with Ed Sheeran, to skateboards with Eevee on them.
