The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has affected many live events due to public gathering restrictions and social distancing guidelines. E3 2020 was outright canceled, while the Game Developers Conference was turned into a digital-only event.Bethesda announced QuakeCon would move onlinefor its 25th anniversary this year, and today a full schedule forQuakeCon at Homewas released.
The convention is being held over Twitch and will begin with a welcome event on Friday, August 7 at 12:00 p.m. EST. Each day will have a few major segments, highlighted on the schedule: Friday has a boss event forFallout 76and aDoom Eternalpanel; Saturday has aDishonored-themed tabletop game andBethesda Marketing Vice President Pete HinesplayingThe Elder Scrolls Online, and Sunday has the Quake World Championship Grand Finals and a panel forThe Evil Within.

Throughout the rest of the three-day event, there will also be segments focusing on games such asSkyrim,Prey, andFallout 4, as well as fan-driven segments based on cosplay and a discussion on representation in video games. According toBethesda’s schedule post, “The beating heart of QuakeCon remains strong” despite world circumstances, so the event will celebrate “games, the people who make them, and the people who love them.”
Many of the events scheduled throughout QuakeCon at Home focus onFallout 76, Bethesda’s multiplayer online RPG that continues to see updates and improvements in spite of its controversial release. In fact, earlier today Bethesda detailedFallout 76’s two-part Brotherhood of Steel event, which will begin with a patch released prior to the digital convention.
There will also be a heavy focus onThe Elder Scrolls Online, including a charity stream for UNICEF being held at 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, August 8. However, nothing is in the cards for Bethesda’s highly-anticipatedThe Elder Scrolls 6, which makes sense consideringHines said it will be years beforeElder Scrolls 6detailswill be available, but that may still be disappointed for some fans who have been waiting on information past its announcement.
Though events like QuakeCon, Gamescom, and the Game Developers Conference are continuing while socially distant, other events and game developers themselves have struggled working from home. According to a survey of 2,500 people put out by GDC ahead of its summer event,one-third of developers say games were delayed by COVID-19, so it should be interesting to see how previously live events adapt to this new normal.
QuakeCon at Homewill be held August 7 to 9 over Twitch.
