ARed Dead Redemption 2player accidentally makes aLord of the Ringsreference while attempting to escape pursuit in the game.Red Dead Redemption 2is a game with what many consider a strong narrative and incredibly immersive open world. While thestory ofRed Dead Redemption 2deals with a serious tone as Arthur Morgan struggles to hold the Van der Linde gang together, due to the game’s non-linear structure, its open world can produce some hilarious moments.

Some of these funnyRed Dead Redemption 2moments occur randomly, such as one player who found the famous and belovedHouse Building scene in the epilogue ruined by a cougarrunning through the middle of the cutscene and attacking John Marston. On other occasions, modders manage to turnRed Dead Redemption 2into a much more comedic game than it was perhaps first meant to be. One funny clip from a moddedRed Dead Redemption 2made Jack Marston the game’s protagonist, and showed him destroying Micah with lightning attacks.

A recent clip posted to Reddit by user BigmanJacob08 definitely falls on the side of the former in terms ofRed Dead Redemption 2moments, but it certainly still manages to be an entertaining video. Beginning with Arthur Morgan dismounting from his horse, he begins to run from the law enforcement who are rapidly approaching, eventually hiding under a rock. The law approaches, looking around for the player, but cannot find him due to the rock giving Arthur perfect cover, leading to BigmanJacob08 making the comparison with a famousLord of the Ringsscene.

TheLord of the Ringsscene in question is one that takes placeearly inThe Fellowship of the Ring, when Frodo and the hobbits are running from the Black Riders and hide themselves underneath a bank in the woods in order to elude their pursuers. While Arthur Morgan doesn’t have hairy feet, and he is above three-foot tall, the comparison to theLord of the Ringsscene is a clear one, as they both involve similar moments of tension followed by one of relief.

WhileThe Lord of the RingsandRed Dead Redemption 2might not seem like the most obvious crossover, Rockstar’s open world action-adventure title has seen plenty of other universes accidentally find their way into the Western setting. One bug managed to giveRed Dead Redemption 2an unofficialAttack on Titancameo, for example, as a horse flew in the air out of nowhere, as if it had been thrown by the Ape Titan.

Red Dead Redemption 2is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
