Dataminers have found some evidence that may point towards the addition of Rockstar Editor inRed Dead Redemption 2. The information comes by way of VideoTech_, who found some files pertaining toRockstar Editorwithin the game. Of course, this is still speculation, and it is possible that these are leftover.
Grand Theft Auto 5added Rockstar Editor way back in 2015, and it has allowed players to take some nice screenshots and videos and edit them from within the game. Despite how much fans loved this, the feature has been absent fromRed Dead Redemption 2entirely.

Again, the existence of these files doesn’t confirm that the mode is coming in any way, but it does certainly allow for some speculation. Many are now questioning when the feature will be added and whether or not it will make its way ontoRed Dead Redemptionon next gen consolesor the current generation of consoles.
More of these control inputs can be found in the full tweet thread for those that are interested, as well as the conversation sparked by players. Most unanimously agree that the introduction of Rockstar Editor and Rockstar Director Mode would be good, as it would allow for much more content creation from players, but many are worried about how it will be implemented. The running theory is that Rockstar Games is saving the mode for a next-gen release ofRed Dead Redemption 2, something that many feel is only a matter of time afterGrand Theft Auto 5was revealed to be coming to next-gen consoles.
As with any potential major announcement, there are fans on both sides, with some expressing pure excitement and others wanting to avoid getting their hopes up. Unfortunately, sinceRockstar Games hasn’t made any sort of official announcementon this, there’s no way to tell whether or not it will happen. It may be best for the time being to keep expectations low so that if the reveal happens it is a pleasant surprise. Fan reaction shows that there’s pretty much nothing to lose from adding this feature in, so hopefully Rockstar Games realizes that soon and follows through with its implementation.
Another theory posed by VideoTech_ himself is that the code is simply leftover fromGTA 5rather than the beginnings of the feature inRDR 2,and that’s entirely possible. With how similar both games are it is highly likely that certainthings fromGTA 5were reused inRDR 2, and this could be one thing which was missed.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
