Ballroom
Beginning in the Grand Hall, exit from the cage and go through the hidden passage to the rightof the central statue. Entering an antechamber, go through the large doors on the left to begin towards the Ballroom.
In this fungus-filled hallway, start towards the door ahead wheretwo Novistadoreswill lunge at Leon. These flying creatures are fairly easily dealt with, provided players have strong enough weapons. Simply shoot them out of the sky and knife them as they lay on the ground.
With those two killed, vault the banister to the left and climb upstairs, killing two more Novistadores on the way up. At the top, walk around the clutter in the storage room and through another door into the dilapidated Ballroom.
Heading right and down the stairs, the Ballroom floor will introduce players to the Novistadores' secondary, camouflaged form, leaving Leon swarmed with the flying insects. This difficult fight can be taken on in two ways; by killing the Novistadores before they reveal themselves,Leon will deal massive damage, but failing that, make some distance and shoot them down as before, watching out for the long-range strikes and grab attacks.
While fighting them off, head up the stairs beside the rubble and the collapsed chandelier. Killing some more insects up here, walk around to the end of the balcony andpull the lever next to the Cerberus statue, opening part of the gate leading out of the Ballroom.
From here, drop down to the left and walk to the opposite side of the room, behind the stairs from which Leon first entered the Ballroom. Back here is a narrow passageway littered with more Novistadores, leading to a ladder.Climb up and pull the second leverin the area before dropping down and walking through the newly opened gate.
After more taunting byRamon Salazar, walk around the statue andshoot the counterweight on the rightto lower the drawbridge halfway. To lower the other half, backtrack a little to thesmall balcony left of the statue. Looking at the bridge from here will reveal a second counterweight beneath that Leon can shoot to release it.
Antechamber
Enter the double doors on the other side to begin an encounter with some Ganados anda pair of Garradores. This is a particularly difficult encounter where players will be forced to juggle many enemies while avoiding the extremely powerful attacks of the Garradores.
Using explosives to control the crowds, be sure to attack the beasts’ spinal parasites whenever they emerge. To help, there arefour bells in the room that Leon can shoot to attract the Garradores, leaving their backs exposed and open to attack.
Once all the enemies in this room have subsided, grab the two Unicorn Horns from the corpsesof the Garradores and place them on the horsehead sculptures at the back of the hall to open the exit. Enter the door ahead to begin a cutscene.

Depths
At the bottom of the well, continue walking through the muck, squeezing between spikes andcrouching through a crevice. In the pool of water ahead, players can make out some shining green dots on the water; these are the eyes of acamouflaged Novistador, which will attack Leon from the water when it gets the chance.
To kill the Novistador, keep track of the green eyes and be ready to parry as they make their way toward Leon. Following a successfulparry with the knife, the insect will fall back into the water, soshoot the area where it landed to kill it. Failing a parry, look out for those eyes and movements in the water, using a weapon like the shotgun to kill it before it can deal damage.
With the Novistador down, take the staircase on the left of the pool up and around, dropping down the ledge at the end into more insect-infested waters. Fight forwards around the spikes until coming across the small building. Head around and take the stairs to find a corpse withan Elegant Crownbeside it, with a busted wall to the left.Interact with the wall to break itand squish through the gap. In the adjacent room, go up the ladder and enter the sewers.
Underground Laboratory
Continue forward, passing a Merchant stall on the left, through a door, and into the Underground Laboratory. Along here, players may notice an interactable green light on the right; ignore this for now and head into the room just ahead. In here is an elevator that requires a circuit breaker to be flipped to use.Take a left from this elevatorand into some more tunnels.
Through here, players will be treated to a point-of-view shot ofsomething inhuman making its way toward Leon. Regaining control, press forward through the hallways, trying to tune out the intense music that warns of danger. Near the end of the tunnel, enter a room on the right and flip the circuit breakerto open the gate ahead.
Keep pushing forward, ignoring the hallway to the left for now until the creature’s tail makes an appearance from under the floor. Quickly dodge it to avoid damage and press on. Do the same around the next corner, walking through the tunnels and reaching the final circuit breaker at the end.
With the power restored, return to the elevator where the Verdugo will appear.Defeating the Verdugocan prove challenging, but with enough perseverance, players can strike a decisive hit and escape the Laboratory. Alternatively, wait for the elevator to arrive and flee, ending the chapter.
