The newestResident Evilis taking a different tact than the Milla Jovovich films, but that doesn’t meanResident Evil: Welcome to Racoon Cityis straying that far away from what fans love about the franchise. While thefirst couple of trailers forWelcome to Raccoon Cityfocused on Chris and Claire Redfield, the most recent trailer is all about the creatures they’re going to have to fight through.
Resident Evilmovies have always been full of monsters and it appears thatWelcome to Raccoon Cityis going to be no different in that regard. However, this time around it looks like fans are going to get a bit more of a variety of creatures that the film’s protagonists will have to take on. A version of zombies are usually the main baddies in these flicks and they’re still present here as well, but there are also some other monsters that are going to be front and center.

Sony is calling the most recent trailer “Nightmares” and it doesn’t take long to figure out why. Chris and Claire are still prominent and there are some aspects from thepreviousWelcome to Racoon Citytrailersthat are shown again, but there’s also quite a bit of new footage in the most recent video. One of the shots does show a zombie chowing down on someone, but there’s also a very toothy “Licker” that looks quite a bit more formidable than the Jovovich films' version of that monster. There is also a detail that seems to hint just how close to the Resident Evil games this film is aiming to stay.
One of the “monsters” featured in the newWelcome to Raccoon Citytrailer is none other than Lisa Trevor. Trevor is a character that didn’t appear in the very first game, but has been around theResident Eviluniverse for quite a while at this point, first appearing in the remake that launched on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2002.
Lisa Trevor isn’t a mindless monster that merely haunts Raccoon City but is in fact, one of the very first mutated humans who still retains some of that humanity. In fact, she’s got just enough knowledge of what she was to be dangerous. Her appearance in the newest trailer shows the creepiness of her design and hints thatResident Evil: Welcome to Racoon Citywill try and stay faithful.
With just a few weeks until the movie franchise’s reboot hits theaters, it won’t be long until fans can see for themselves just how faithful to the original stories this flick stays. If the trailers are any indication, it will be quite a bit closer than those Jovovich versions.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Cityreleases in theaters on June 08, 2025.
