Summary

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguedidn’t do much to impress its community of Arkhamverse fans when it revealed gameplay, whether it looked like a fun multiplayer shooter romp or not, and its live-service elements leak pushed it further from being the game these same fans were hoping it would be. Besides the fact that it does look like players will be constantly firing at hordes of purple aliens and other purple points of interest, though, there’s really no telling whatKill the Justice Leaguewill end up playing like until more is revealed. Still, it isn’t painted in a much better light thanGotham Knightswas before it launched.

Gotham KnightsandKill the Justice Leagueboth come from developers whose seminal work is affiliated with the Arkhamverse, but even thoughGotham Knightsattempted its own original story, both games are demonstrative of their publisher predicting trends and executing them in ways that fans would eventually dislike. FollowingGotham KnightsandKill the Justice League, fans are guaranteed to see more single-player games in development; meanwhile,Gotham Knightshas recently packed its bags and moved to Game Pass, which is a decisionKill the Justice Leagueshould make, too.

Gotham Knights Came to Game Pass a Little Too Late

Gotham Knightswasn’t a live-service game and its co-op functionality wasn’t what fans had an issue with. That said,Gotham Knightsonly had two-player co-op at launchand fans had to wait until after its release for four-player co-op to eventually arrive, and its post-launch content was arguably not fulfilling enough to engage players in that mode after all. IfGotham Knightshad come to Game Pass around the time of its Heroic Assault mode, there’s no telling how many players it could have amassed on the subscription service between console and PC.

If a game isn’t on Game Pass as a day-one inclusion it can board the ship to reinvigorate itself, and while the latter is possible forGotham Knights, the former is a basket thatKill the Justice Leagueshould put all of its eggs into. IfKill the Justice Leaguegets tossed onto Game Pass when it releases in February, many more fans might be willing to check it out if they already have a subscription. This strategy was likely advantageous forThe Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s own shelf life, and becauseKill the Justice Leagueis a full-blown multiplayer shooter unlikeGotham Knights, it could be the perfect way to warmly welcome weary fans to it.

That might not soften the blow entirelyifKill the Justice Leaguestill has all of its leaked battle pass and live-service componentsafter the smoke has cleared from its most recent delay. But making it more immediately accessible could help put fans’ guards down until they have played the game themselves and leaped around Metropolis as either Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, or Captain Boomerang.
