Dragon Age: Dreadwolflast promised fans that it would reveal brand new information this summer, and that could also include a brand new title if recent insider rumblings are accurate. If so, it will be a bit of a surprise given theimportance ofDragon Age: Dreadwolf’s subtitle, in that the game involves Solas' plot to tear down the veil and that it is in an anagram for “FADE WORLD.”

It’s uncertain when this name change was decided, assuming it is legit, but it’s worth noting that the summer news reveal did call itDragon Age: Dreadwolf. It promised fans gameplay, a release date, and more, and it’s all very exciting. It’ll be interesting to see if there is something to this name change and how it recontextualizes the game’s events.

This information originated fromKinda Funny Gamescast’s Xbox 2024 Showcase prediction episode, around the 56-minute time mark. According to Jeff Grubb,Dragon Age: Dreadwolfwould both be there and not be there, further explaining thatDragon Age: Dreadwolfwould not butDragon Agewould be. It’s a bit interesting to learn that the game might be at the Xbox Showcase instead of Summer Game Fest, which seems more likely, but plenty of powers at play here could explain that decision. Grubb’s comments led to some thinking that aDragon Age: Originsremakewould be at the Xbox Showcase, but other insiders chimed in, explaining it was a little simpler than that.

Commenting later on ResetEra, reporterJason Schreier respondedto the discussion around Grubb’s comment: “The rumor he’s alluding to is a name change for DA4, not a different game." In other words, the game formerly known asDragon Age: Dreadwolfcould be there, sporting a brand new title. GivenDragon Age: Dreadwolf’s development difficulties, some might take this as a sign of bad things to come. However, it’s nothing nefarious according to another insider. Shinobi602 also weighed in saying it was a creative decision and nothing to really be concerned about, which is of course well within BioWare’s rights, if somewhat unusual.

Either way, fans will just have to wait for the Xbox Games Showcase to find out, if the title doesn’t also appear at Summer Game Fest. Regardless of the name, it stands to reason that an appearance at either showcase - which is as of now unconfirmed - is just the start of asummer of reveals for the newDragon Agegame.
