Deadpool 3is finally on the horizon, and while fans don’t know much about what’s in store for Wade Wilson and company, they may have just been given a clue by Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool 3will mark the fourth time Reynolds has portrayed the Merc with a Mouth; previously, he played the character inDeadpool,Deadpool 2, andX-Men Origins: Wolverine, though the character in theX-Menmovie is a different iteration than the one Reynolds portrayed in theDeadpoolmovies. Although he has a long history with this Marvel character, Reynolds has never officially been part of the MCU;Deadpool 3will change that, bringing Deadpool into the official Multiverse of the MCU. At the moment,Deadpool’s specific place and importance in the MCUare unclear.

As reported byThe Direct, Reynolds posted a picture of the X-Force team inDeadpool 2on his Twitter account. The original caption reads, “X-Force will live forever!” After posting the picture, Reynolds edited the caption, which now reads, “X will live forever!” The change was small, but the implications could be significant. The reason for the edit is unknown, but it’s possible that mentioning the X-Force was a detail Reynolds wasn’t supposed to include in the post.
Fans will remember the short-lived X-Force fromDeadpool 2, whichconsisted of Zazie Beetz’s Domino, Bedlam, Shatterstar, Zeitgeist, Vanisher, and Pete - the only member without superpowers. Deadpool leads the team in an attack against a prison convoy as he tries to free a young mutant named Russell Collins and protect him from Cable. The only team members to make it out of their singular adventure alive were Deadpool and Domino, although Deadpool does go back in time to prevent Pete’s death in aDeadpool 2post-credits scene. At the time, the scenes of the X-Force assembling and then quickly suffering horrific deaths seemed like a humorous reference to the comics. However, Reynolds' accidental mention of it leading up toDeadpool 3could mean the X-Force isn’t gone for good.
While the tweet could have just been Reynolds remembering the ill-fated team fondly, it’s strange that he changed the caption to remove the reference to the X-Force entirely. It’s far from a confirmation, but the edit suggests that Reynolds wasn’t supposed to post anything suggesting that the X-Force will return because it would be a part of the upcoming movie. Though Deadpool, Domino, and Pete are the only members ofDeadpool 2’s X-Force that remain, it’s entirely possible that Deadpool could form a new team with characters from the third movie - especially sinceHugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine, who has a history with the X-Force in the comics. There’s also a possibility that Deadpool could find different versions of his dead team members throughout the Multiverse and rebuild the X-Force that way. Whether the X-Force will rise again or not,Deadpool 3will have some surprises in-store.
Deadpool 3is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Jun 14, 2025.
