The Diofield Chronicleis a game co-developed bySquare Enixand Lancarse, and published by Square Enix. Released in last September for all major platforms, this game pits players in a war-torn fictional universe, where three kingdoms lie next to each other in a conflict. The game features a real-time tactical battle system, which allows free directional movement and requires fast thinking with strategy.

In the game, the player controls a party of characters, not unlike in most JRPGs, which engage in battles, complete missions, defend strongholds, capture areas on the maps, and so on. Eachmission inThe Diofield Chroniclewill earn skill pointsfor the party, which can be appointed to different abilities on each character. The strategic battles are presented in a diorama style, where the player acts like a general commanding their army. Players must assess the conditions on the battlefield and issue orders in real time to use the powers of their characters efficiently and to take advantage of the enemy’s weaknesses.
The characters include a bodyguard who knows ancient sorcery, Andrias Rhondarson, soldier Fredret Lester, an archer Iscarion Colchester, and a mage by the name of Waltaquin Redditch. The story is set in a world with Kingdom of Alletain, Trovelt-Schoevian Empire, and Rowetale Alliance in what seems like an endless conflict with each other. The mercenary group the players control is called the Blue Foxes and come from the Kingdom of Alletain. According to the developer, the world combines fantasy, medieval, and modern-day influences.The Diofield Chroniclefor Switchis now available for a lowered price of $39.99.
