There is a lot to see and do in the world of Tamriel, withThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimstill offering up a lot of content after more than a decade, thanks largely to the dedicated modding community. While themap size of Bethesda’sDaggerfallis much larger than this entry, the 2011 epic open-world RPG is still full of locations, characters, beautiful scenery, and, of course, quests. With 270 quests in total, players can spend a lot of time uncovering new things, even after all these years, and sometimes fans will come along and make those quests even longer.

Uploading the add-on to Nexus Mods a few days ago, veteran modder JaySerpa has managed to take a small side quest inSkyrimand bulk it out somewhat. Called “Caught Red Handed - Quest Expansion,” this mod adds more content to, as the name suggests, “Caught Red Handed,” the optional mission that takes place in Riften. Adding new choices, as well as fully voiced dialogue from spliced vanilla audio, it features additional ways for players to see the quest through. A video on the mod page gives an overview of what’s been added or changed.

In the vanilla version of the quest, players speak to Svana to help her shame Haelga. If players choose to accept, they will be tasked with collecting three Marks of Dibella from Haelga’s three lovers. In the game’s lore,Dibella is one of the Eight Divines inSkyrimand represents beauty. Collecting the three Marks is a relatively short task, but what “Quest Expansion” does is give players the option to side with Haelga instead, rather than shame her. By doing so, it’s possible to get on her good side. There’s also an opportunity to encourage Svana to stand up for herself.

JaySerpa has created many interesting mods in the past. Recently, theyadded around 500 new bandit dialogue lines intoSkyrimand have made an add-on in which NPCs act annoyed when they’re woken up. Similar to this latest mod, these others utilize the chopping up and rearranging of dialogue that exists within the vanilla game to create new lines without having to record custom speech.

There aremany incredible quests inSkyrimthat can keep players busy for hours. People like JaySerpa expanding already existing ones just gives fans even more opportunity to keep playing. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is long overdue, the continued efforts of the modding community mean that this latest entry in the long-running franchise can potentially go on indefinitely.

Skyrimis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
