Bethesda’s hit RPGThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimhas plenty of secrets for players to discover. With long quest lines, an open world full of things to explore, and spiraling narratives,Skyrimhas often been praised by fans for keeping players' interests over multiple runs of the game, with new things to be found each time it’s booted up. With the tenthanniversary edition ofSkyrimlaunching last year, players have yet again had another reason to create their Dragonborn character.
The Dragonborn is the character the player takes over inSkyrim, and due toSkyrim’scharacter creator and RPG elements, the Dragonborn can be practically anyone. From a stealth archer to a Magicka specialist, there arenumerous build optionsSkyrimplayerscan take. However, there are certain characteristics of the Dragonborn that remain constant throughout the games. The Dragonborn has the ability to consume the souls of dragons, and then turn those souls into the shouts used inSkyrim.

Considering the Dragonborn’s rather unique ability of permanently killing dragons, there’s not many of them that can be found inSkyrimor the wider land of Tamriel. For most players, the only Dragonborn in the game is the character they created, and the character Miraak who acts as the antagonist ofSkyrim’s"Dragonborn" DLC. However, one keen-eyed player has spotted a third Dragonborn that can be found in the game.
Found in the Halls of Sovngarde, which acts asSkyrim’sequivalent to the Viking heaven of Valhalla, are many heroes ofSkyrim’spast. One such hero when spoken to will greet the player warmly, saying that the honor of Dragonborn is also theirs to share. This character is not given a name besides “Hero of Sovngarde,” though it can be assumed they are an ancient Dragonborn, as the births of Dragonborn are described to be rare. Considering there are hundreds of years between the player’s existence and Miraak’s initial time as Dragonborn, it’s safe to say this third Dragonborn is even older.
Besides the reveal that there is a third Dragonborn in the game, the “Hero of Sovngarde” doesn’t give players that much more information. Many in the comments of the initial Reddit post found the area of Sovngarde to be slightly disappointing inSkyrim, wishing they could get more information or talk to more people. The area acts mostly as the battleground for the final battle ofSkyrim’smain quest against Alduin, and it seems that besides that not many details were given to the residents of Sovngarde except some cool details.
