Although the release of tomorrow’s Anniversary Edition of the game will be exciting to many fans, there are those who have been patiently waiting forany news about the release ofThe Elder Scrolls 6. While that installment is a long way off, fans can still make the most ofSkyrimand the memories they have of it. It’s not just the community who fondly remember their first time playing the epic open world RPG, as Bethesda’s own team have also been sharing their personal stories ahead of the anniversary.
In a blog post on the official Bethesda website, some staff members have been reminiscing about their time playing throughSkyrim, which is something of a change from talking about personal experiences actually making the game. What’s interesting is that some of the people sharing weren’t even working at the company when the game was released, which gives some indication of just how long ago it launched.

Jess Clark, Associate Community Manager at Bethesda, spoke about her time completing theThieves Guild side quests, and the hubris they’d gained increasing their bow skill, which lead to a misstep when trying to pick off some Forsworn. Senior Digital Sales Manager, Dawn Earp, referenced their first playthrough of the game, in which they put around 160 hours in before they’d even started on the main storyline. While producer Cara Buoncristiano told a tale of how they lost their job in retail whenSkyrimwas released, but, ten years later, ended up a part of the Bethesda team, working their dream job.
With theSkyrim: Anniversary Editioncoming with new content, there is going to be plenty more opportunity for newcomers, and veterans of the game, to create new memories. As a franchise,The Elder Scrollsis famous for its expansive open worlds and in-depth lore.
Ten years is a long time for a single game to be kept on the forefront of the industry in the way thatSkyrimhas. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is likely still years away from completion, the upcoming Anniversary Edition of the fifth installment in the series is either a testament to the longevity of the game, or a means for Bethesda to keep the fan base placated while it works on upcoming projects. In any case,Skyrimis going to be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
