In an amusing video, aSkyrimVRplayer wonders whether or not it’s possible to beat, or at least competently play, the game while lying down, and the results are what many would imagine. Considered by a lot of players to beone of the most immersive open-world titlesin recent memory,The Elder Scrolls 5has beaten out much of the competition to become a tour de force in the RPG genre. It’s the world building and huge landscape of potential exploration that makes it such a fan favorite.
To add to that immersion even further, some will opt for virtual reality, though some will wonderwhetherSkyrimVRis worth the investment. While the official release, much like the vanilla game itself, is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, those who really want to feel part of Tamriel will be more than happy to go for the VR version. However, to make things even more immersive, there are mods which not only add more interactivity to the game, but can result in some pretty funny adventures.

In the latestSkyrimvideo by YouTuber The Laughing Simon, the VR player attempts to get through the whole game while lying on their stomach. Being prone while wearing a headset quickly proves to be quite the chore, as they immediately begin to feel the effects of having to crane their neck up to see NPCs. It’s a comical playthrough as they move their way through the opening parts of the game, only really able to see other character’s shoes and ankles. While they manage to make it to Riverwood, it’s apparent at this point that crawling acrossSkyrimas the prophecy-filling Dragonborn is not a comfortable way to play the game. As can be expected, Simon does not get too far, only just managing to get to Dragonsreach in Whiterun before accidentally antagonizing the guards.
The YouTuber is becoming fairly well known for videos of this ilk. Recently, they attempted todragSkryim’s Ulfric Stormcloak to Solitudeto apologize for his involvement in the civil war. This has more success than this latest upload, and the playthroughs themselves are great forms of entertainment, particularly with Simon’s strong Scottish accent.
While the vanilla experience alone is substantial as it is, there are plenty ofmods forSkyrimthat are game changers, whether it’s through graphical improvements, new UIs, custom starting points, or by changing the ways in which players customize their characters. Despite being over 11 years old now, it doesn’t appear as though theTES5crowd is growing tired of Bethesda’s epic RPG.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
