Recent updates to certain store pages ofSonic Frontiershas fans speculating that the first wave of DLC will be arriving soon. Eagle-eyed fans had spotted these changes on the Xbox Store and SteamDB pages from earlier this week, which include blank spots for downloading add-ons for the game. Fans are expecting to seeupdates aboutSonic Frontiers’ DLCsooner rather than later, with some even speculating that a Sonic Central event is imminent.Sonic Frontiersannounced its DLC roadmapback in December, which revealed a lot of post-launch support for 2023. The DLC will be coming in three waves of updates, which all provide something different to help extend the game’s longevity. The first update will contain some Quality-of-Life improvements, such as a photo mode and jukebox music player, along with an additional challenge mode. One fan found that the SteamDB page forSonic Frontierswas changed on March 2, with another finding that the Xbox Store also updated around the same time, with their Xbox dashboard showing three blank spots in the DLC section of the game.
On top of fans anticipating that Sega will be dropping the first DLC wave very soon, another fan spotted that a change was made to the SteamDB page forSonic Origins. This ties in with therumored release ofSonic Origins Plus, where much likeSonic Maniabefore it, added free DLC content and saw the game being released physically. This update toSonic Originshad fans coming to the conclusion that Sega will be hosting another Sonic Central event soon, which would give out details and a release date for theSonicfranchise’s plans for 2023.
Sega stated near the end of 2022 that the franchise would have a lot planned for the new year, includingSonic Frontiers’ DLC. Currently lined up for release this year is thesecond season ofSonic Prime, the live-action Knuckles TV show spin-off, and a lot more that Sega hasn’t revealed yet.
The other waves of DLC forSonic Frontiersincludes challenges within the game’s open-zone, new Kocos to find, and content revolving around Sonic’s Birthday, which indicates that the second wave will likely release on June 23: the release date of the firstSonicgame. The third wave, however, is the one that many fans are the most excited over, as it promisesnew playable characters inSonic Frontiers, along with a brand-new story scenario.
