Inkbrushesare arguably one of the most up-front, aggressive weapons in theSplatoon 3arsenal. Inkbrushes strike fast, dealing up chip damage until somebody gets sent back to respawn. Octobrushes work slightly differently, having stronger power in exchange for slower hits and a wider range. Either brush is a good choice, and below we’ll document the advantages and disadvantages of all the brushes inSplatoon 3, along with what abilities may work best for each.

Best Builds For Brushes

Inkbrush

The Inkbrush is a short-ranged but speedy weapon inSplatoon 3. It’s the most basic brush, offering players an introduction to the weapon type with little drawbacks and a standard kit. The Inkbrush does little damage but makes up for it with its quick hit count. Players with a fast enough trigger finger can splat opponents with the right strategy and reflexes. The Inkbrush also doesn’t consume too much ink per swing, making it a great weapon to try for players who’d rather focus on hitting enemies as fast as possible instead of taking tactical breaks.

The Inkbrush comes with a great sub-weapon andspecial, both of which pair with the main weapon nicely. The Splat Bomb is a great sub-weapon for the Inkbrush, with the ability to take out enemies in a single hit, dealing splash damage all around.

This weapon in particular is useful for the Inkbrush, as it can help even the playing field against long-range weapons. The special for the Inkbrush inSplatoon 3is also complimentary to the main weapons' abilities: the Killer Wail 5.1. These individual Killer Wail drones fly around the user, targeting anyone within range and blasting deadly fire in their direction. For an Inkbrush user, this can open up an opportunity to go forward with an attack, or help distract a foe for a strategic retreat if things get too hot to handle.

Octobrush

The Octobrush is a hard-hitting, slower version of the Inkbrush. Despite the slower speed, the Octobrush makes up for its lack of speedy attacks with a much wider range that can reach opponents up to 2 range test lines away. Even as a brush, the Octobrush can pass as a mid-range weapon with its large, wide flicks. Additionally, the Octobrush does 40 damage per hit, each hit taking about half a second to execute.

This combination makes it a turf-controlling machine, able to concentrate high damage ink to specific areas of conflict. The Octobrush is a great all around weapon, able to splat enemies just as well as it covers turf. Players who want a weapon they can take anywhere, be it a Turf War or Anarchy Battle, can do so easily with this set.

The Octobrush features the Suction Bomb as a sub-weapon and the Zipcaster as a Special. With the Suction Bomb, players can place a sticky, powerful bomb in specific locations. For Anarchy Battles, this sub-weapon is great for maintaining tower control or breaking up team groups with the most powerful, wide-range bomb in the game.

The Octobrush’s special, the Zipcaster, is great for moving quickly behind enemy lines and splatting foes with the Octobrush’s powerful hits.

Inbrush Nouveau

The Inkbrush Nouveau is an alternate kit for the standard Inkbrush that offers a slightly different way to play. The Inkbrush Nouveau is no different than the standard Inkbrush when it comes to the main weapon, having the exact same speed and power that allowsplayers to quickly get in, splat the enemy, and get out with ease. The difference that the Inkbrush Nouveau makes lies in its special and sub-weapons, which allows the player to take a completely different approach with the weapon. The Inkbrush Nouveau is a late game purchase, only being available after Level 20. However, for players that are eager to get their hands on the new brush as fast as possible, they can do so for a few extra Sheldon Tickets.

The Inkbrush Nouveau features the Ink Mine asits sub-weapon. While the Ink Mine is far from an aggressive sub-weapon, players who like to take control of the battlefield while also dealing some fast damage may enjoy the protection that a few Ink Mines provide. The special for the Inkbrush Nouveau, the Ultra Stamp, adds a bit of extra power to the equation by equipping the player with a gigantic hammer every time they fill their special gauge. Using the Ultra Stamp at the right time can provide some interesting results, mostly involving stamping anyone that gets in the way and throwing the hammer and any onlookers for good measure.
