Last November, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts releasedStar Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Since then, the game has received critical and commercial success, and during the DICE Summit earlier this month, a Disney exec revealed that the company wantsmore similar games in the future. Now, reports are surfacing online that Respawn and EA are currently developing the sequel,Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

According to Kotaku, there are twoStar Warsprojects that are currently in the works. One is a “very unique"new IP that EA Motive confirmedto be in development late last year, while the other is the sequel toStar Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Of course, given the massive success thatStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderreceived since its launch last year, it is unsurprising that EA would want a follow up to that game.

Unfortunately, the report didn’t go into detail on specific details about the rumored sequel. However, the fact that the report refers to the project as a sequel rather than a new IP means that it will be likely a follow up to the 2019 game. Of course, given that no official confirmation has been made so far, fans should take this information with a grain of salt.

Another event that supports the rumor ofStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2occurred last December whenEA posted a job listingthat hinted that the studio is working on the sequel. According to the job listing, EA is looking for an experienced software engineer to join theStar Warsteam in Los Angeles. The listing reads, “We’re picturing someone who is passionate about theStar WarsUniverse, and is invigorated by the idea of coding third-person action/adventure games.” Although the listing didn’t specify the game in development, many assumed that it is for the sequel toStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Last year’s release ofStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Ordersurprised fans and critics with just how good the game was. EA’s two previous games that are set in theStar Warsuniverse were not as well-received by fans and critics.Star Wars: Battlefrontwas ridiculed for its lack of content and expensive Season Pass, whileStar Wars: Battlefront IIwas also criticized for the same reasons, especially with its heavy reliance onthe controversial Loot Box system.

Given this, expectations forStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderwere low, but luckily, the game proved to be a smashing success. Ever since its release,Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhas sold over 8 million copies, which exceeded EA’s sales projectionsof 6 million. The game also received mostly positive reviews across the board and earned a 79 rating average on Metacritic for the PS4, and 80 for the Xbox One.
