AFallout 4player online has shared footage of a bizarre glitch that appears to turn Nick Valentine into a Jet addict. Nick Valentine is commonly considered to be one of thebestFallout 4companions, and this glitch raises some interesting questions about his character.

If there’s one thing that Bethesda games are famous for above all else, it’s the glitches.Fallout 4is no exception to the rule in this regard, with the community always seeming to discover something not quite right about the game. Just recently, onecreepyFallout 4bug made Diamond City look like hell, and it’s just one example of the weird and wonderful glitches to emerge from the game. In the years since its initial 2015 release, Bethesda has managed to remove many of the game’s worst bugs, but when one is squashed, another seems to emerge.

Redditor HoracioPeacockThe3rd shared the video, which shows Nick Valentine standing in a single spot, continuously huffing Jet over and over again. It’s definitely an odd sight, and it raised a question among the players in the thread, who wonder whethersynths inFalloutwould even be able to experience the high to come from the drug.Fallout 4itself doesn’t quite answer the question, so for now it will have to remain community speculation.

One gamer in the thread posed what seems to be the most likely explanation for the issue. Apparently, this is just an invisible animation marker, meaning that any NPC that stands there would be doing the same thing. It also explains an oddFallout 4bug which makes one of the children at Bunker Hill smoke a cigarette. Users in the thread raised some other potential issues that could come of these animation markers, with one gamer realizing that Cait could even be forced to take Jet after players cure her drug addiction, a key part of her character development.

Nick Valentine remains one of the best characters inFallout 4, despite his antics here. The choice to characterize the synths in such a way was an interesting story decision, and it will be curious to see if Bethesda decides to include them in a potentialFallout 5. Some are already makingthe case for a new generation of synths inFallout 5, and there are plenty of arguments for their inclusion. With the game seemingly still a very long time away, Bethesda has plenty of time to make that decision yet.

Fallout 4is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
