Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) is one of the stand-out characters of season 4 of Netflix’sStranger Things, and a popular fan theory suggests there is more to his story than meets the eye. Eddie’s intelligence, quirkiness, and refusal to conform make him a fantastic character. He knows that he doesn’t fit in with the people around him and hopes for a cool, interesting life beyond Hawkins, Indiana.
While Eddie has a sad ending, he’s impossible to ignore or forget about, and the Eddie Munson Kas fan theory proves that. Whether someone agrees with theStranger Thingstheory or not, it’s a testament to the fact that Eddie is so enjoyable to watch.

What Happened To Eddie Munson in Season 4?
Eddie Munson has a terrible time in season 4 ofStranger Things. He’s running The Hellfire Club at Hawkins High School and trying to find some happiness in his fairly boring life. He bonds unexpectedly with theunderrated character Chrissy Cunningham(Grace Van Dien), which proves the show’s talent for allowing different characters to connect with one another. And before he knows it, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) has brutally claimed Chrissy as his first victim, which makes Eddie run for his life since he’s a prime suspect.
Eddie’s death is one of the most moving and also terrifying moments inStranger Things. He wants to be heroic and plays a Metallica song, knowing that the bats will attack and kill him. He wants to create a diversion to save his new friends.Eddie’s bestStranger Thingsquotesshow what a fantastic character he is. He has always been alone and he has never gotten the chance to really show love for other people, and he enjoys getting to know Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) friend group, however briefly.
What Does The Eddie/Kas Theory Say Will Happen?
A Redditor posted their fan theorythat Eddie could be like Kas, a Dungeons and Dragons character who becomes a vampire. They wrote, “I was reading about Kas, who was Turned into a vampire after being eaten or swarmed by bats. This happened to our boy. Eddie also has a tattoo of bats on his forearm.”
The fan continued, “I’m not into DND but if any of you are, can you possibly foreshadow this? It seems plausible. I read that Kas and Vecna have an epic battle. I feel Eddie isn’t dead, he’s undead.”
Another fan commented that the theory makes sense because Kas has a helmet that has horns, and Eddie’s firstStranger Thingsscene involves him joking around and making devil horns with his fingers.
TheStranger ThingsEddie/Kas fan theory says that Eddie will come back in season 5 as a vampire. The hope is that Eddie Munson is alive and that this theory could explain what happens to him next. While Shawn Levy said it’s “highly unlikely” thatEddie comes back inStranger Thingsseason 5, no one can blame fans for wanting this to not be true. After all, Eddie is such a funny, sweet, and endearing character that it’s hard not to want to watch more scenes with him.
It makes sense that fans would wonder if Eddie Munson could return inStranger Things, especially with the Eddie Munson Kas theory. His brilliant death scene involving him playing a Metallica song and being swarmed by bats does sound a lot like what happens to Kas. But it’s also possible that the show took some inspiration from this Dungeons and Dragons character but that Eddie’s character arc is really over.
Does A Season 5 Episode Title Hint At What Happens?
Stranger Thingsseason 5, episode 1will be called “The Crawl,” and fans have noticed that this could be a reference to lyrics from theMetallica song “Master of Puppets.“This would make sense since Eddie plays the song while inviting the bats to kill him. The lyrics of the chorus go “Come crawling faster, obey your master” and the song continues, “Master of puppets, I’m pulling your strings/Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams/Blinded by me, you’re able to’t see a thing/Just call my name ‘cause I’ll hear you scream.”
It’s possible to read these song lyrics and think that the Eddie Munson/Kas fan theory is right and Eddie will come back in season 5 as a vampire. But it’s also possible that “The Crawl” is the first episode title ofseason 5 ofStranger Thingsbecause the characters are crawling to get back to their regular lives and it’s going to be a long ride back to happiness, safety, and security. It will be great to see what happens next, and Eddie fans will never give up hope that he might appear even briefly in season 5.
